What happened to the father? I'm a little confused.

Like walking into the middle of a conversation, or expecting to finish someone else's thoughts.

I did not read the book. (Shrug.)

he left, did you read the book?
you're in for a surprise

Thanks! I didn't read the book, I want to though.

Someone should not have had to read the book to know that, providing it was not a plot twist as I understand that this portion was not. They can make that clear in a well-told movie AS IT'S happening.

obviously i meant later in the movie when you find out why he left
very unpredictable

I didn't read the book either, but the final time the father appears in the film is after Chick has been let go from the Yankees(?)and his father wants him to go back and fight for his job.

The whole movie is confused, apparently actors will take any movie for the money

reply

i resent that
a movie doesn't have to have special effects to be good. it's a nice message and very good plot, but none of mitch albom's movies have been completely appealing, it is an independant film but the acting is very good. i guess only a mature audience would understand it

reply

What was the "nice message". I thought the story was depressing and the characters were sad misguided people. What was nice about this???

Redemption is a transforming thing... unconditional love should not be taken for granted... forgiveness starts from within... a mother's love lasts forever... (stop me any time here, Negative Nancy...)
