One of the worst movie I've Seen

I tried watching this movie with my wife. I think I made it 45 minutes maybe I was almost suicidal. It kept jumping all over maybe if you are a fan of Albom and read the book you could follow along otherwise go watch the paint dry, grass grow or stick a pencil in your eyes

If this is the worst movie you've ever seen then you obviously haven't seen a lot of movies.

Secondly, why is it that most people who don't like it aren't able to "follow it" or it was "too confusing" ?

reply

haha, seriously -- I love the drama queens IMDb brings out ('worst film ever, worst actor ever')... Someone posted that on the American Gangster board the other day and one of the better replies pointed out how unlikely it is that Ridley Scott, Denzel Washington + Russell Crowe would all be a part of the WORST MOVIE EVER.

I've seen so many legitimately poor/horrible movies I couldn't even *begin* to name them... but I still find better things to do with my time than go express these various disappointments on message boards.

Not to mention all the horrible movies that you can actually BUY at your local dollar store.

I agree with you Prettybird. I don't know how good or bad the movie was or is but I do believe that Oprah does go overboard with self promotion. At the same time, there are some people who probably watched it simply because her name was attached to it, but to call it the worst movie ever? Try watching any movie with Paris Hilton in it.

I found it confusing because it kept jumping across time. (what was happening at the present, the past, the beyond, etc.) All in all, I'd give it a 4 or 5 out of 10, mostly because of Ellen Byrstyn and because of the subject matter: who wouldn't want just one more day with a lost loved one?

reply

I'm with you! Oprah doesn't have a clue what a good movie is! This one stunk to high Heaven! (Excuse the pun!)

reply

The book is so much better. The movie makes it seem well...

*gag*

I agree, this was pretty dreadful. I was in the mood for a good
tear-jerker, but this didn't do it for me. I'm not really sure why I
watched the whole thing, but for some reason I did.

What happened to Chick's younger sister? Did I black out and miss it?
There was no reference to her later on, and she didn't seem to be at
the mom's funeral.

reply

Yes, Oprah really messed up the book. The book was amazing, but sadly the conversation between Chick and his wife on the phone in the first scene was just... awful. Totally cheesy, because the dialogue was changed. "I'm going home". He just says "I'm leaving"... which made it seem more sad, in the good way. Yes, the good way.
Mitch Albom is an amazing writer, but the movies really give a bad rap to im. I did enjoy the movie "The 5 people you meet in heaven" however.

reply

You probably enjoyed the Five People movie better than this because Oprah didn't touch it.

i hated this movie sooooo much, i hated all the charecters, the writing was horrible, i cringed every time they tried to make a joke, i'm not a big fan of seeing old people having sex at the best of times but this was something else...i unfortunatly can not get the scene where she's wearing the strap on out of my head....this might actually be the worst movie i've ever seen...Oprah should be ashamed, what happened Ms. Winfrey?!

reply

strap on?! Well, at least you took SOMETHING away from the movie... irreversible trauma hahaha...
