Worst film I have seen in 3 years

Looking through my vote history I gave this film a 3/10, the worst in the last 3 years. I dont normally mind Danny Dyer and I love Stephen Graham but this film just was not funny or remotely interesting. Lesbian Vampire Killers was bad enough but this is worse. You can see any supposed laughs coming a mile off, the dialogue is cringingly awful and the characters are the type of prats you see on a friday night out on a suburban pub crawl who think they are being hilarious but actually are a bunch of expletive deletives. Avoid.

reply

Dont listen to this prat, hes the kinda prat that frowns upon other prats enjoying themselves on a suburban pub crawl (aka HAVING FUN), talks crap when the said prats cant hear him, but shuts right up when the prats get close. We all know this type of prat.

And if this is the worst film you have seen in '3 years', you must have spent the last 3 years watching some great films!! Fair play.

DO NOT AVOID, unless you dont enjoy havin a laugh!

I'm sorry mate, but I have to agree with the "prat", as you kindly put it. I'm working class, male, in the same age group as the actors, and I still thought it was total sh#t! and I actually went into it expecting to like it. As the film went on, and each lame scene played out, it began to dawn on me that I was experiencing a truly bad film. I was amazed at how they manged to make some half decent actors, such as Stephen Graham (This Is England), look like they were ex-offenders on some rehabilitation through drama course - it was that bad. Graham actually looked embarrassed in some of his scenes - I'm not joking when I say this.

The bones of it are: Doghouse doesn't work as a comedy, and it doesn't work as a horror... and that's why it fails. Even if you like Danny Dyer, who I actually think is good in some roles, watch Severance instead. It effectively manages to combine comedy and horror.

reply

NAIL.ON.HEAD agree about Severence too, great film. And Im in the same demograph as the characters ie white, working class male. I even work in the construction industry.

reply

I think you will find this prat pretty much knows how to enjoy himself without acting like a complete idiot ie being a lairy moron. I`m not stupid enough to go looking for fights if that is what you are implying, I have no intention of trying to fight 6 blokes at once which is what usually happens in these cases, all brave when in a group of like minded idiots. But that is off topic. Film is pants. My opinion.

Nothing wrong with this movie. This is a thoroughly entertaining, well acted and directed movie. There's a few hiccups in the middle but the gruesome fun picks up in the last third.

A phat 7/10

Jake West's best movie so far and his work on 'PHantasmagoria' and 'Video movies nasties' shows he knows his trade and is a true film buff who has a deep love for the horror genre.

He's planning to do a Tarantino meets Trainspotting movie in the coming year if they can find the fundings.

reply

I usually enjoy a good zombie romp but this is not good. Flat and silly and not at all entertaining. Any attempt at plot was shoved aside so the male characters could show what morons they were. Don't waste your time on this junk.

reply

This movie is an entertaining mixture of horror and comedy and the ensemble acting is top.

reply

I for one enjoyed it. I'm not in the targeted demographic, what with being a woman myself, but the film started with the premise that the men we were going to see in action were all misogynistic *beep* and anyone who continued watching past the first five minutes should have known what to expect. The jokes were okay, and Danny Dyer getting first stabbed and then mutilated was somewhat satisfying. The ending as a dumber version of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid got another few chuckles from me, so all in all the film was rather entertaining for what it is. I think to be disappointed by it one must have had unrealistic expectations.

reply

C'mon man i saw the movie it was hilarious , it's not the worst and it's not the best too , its good to watch i give it 7/10

reply

you all must have missed Avatar! it made this film seem like Blade Runner

"I don't normally mind Danny Dyer..."

Erm, who are you to tell anybody what is a good film or not. You think Danny Dyer is acceptable. You are wrong.

reply

So what exactly is a movie message board for? Opinion. My opinion is the movie is crap, Danny Dyer is a one dimensional "actor" and "geezer" who would normally be the type of person I find most irritating, but for some reason I dont, and if I disengage my brain can watch most of his films.

#but not Doghouse !

reply

I really disagree with you. Movie is a fun ride. There is zero pretense. It's played strictly for face value. If you are expecting a scary movie. You will probably be disappointed. If you are expecting a hilarious romp...you will be equally disappointed. It's just a buddy film in an ironically unrelated zombie/relationship film.

When it's hammy...it's intended to be hammy. When it tries and fails at being serious at inappropriate moments...its intended to fail at these moments. Every time it clumsily fumbles a well known horror trope...it is on purpose.

Definitely agree. I love the zombie genre and I've seen countless pieces of crap through the years. I just checked what rating I gave this movie since I couldn't remember: I gave it 1 star. I've rated 490 titles in IMBD an only 10 got 1 star. This is another one I gave 1 star http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092297/, but at least it is SO bad you can laugh at it.
Avoid this piece of crap.

This movie is awesome compared to some other flicks...

Those characters truly were the most moronic people I've ever seen in a movie. Also to add, the most pussiest dudes on the planet. Very bad zombie movie with extremely stupid plot and bad acting.

reply

What a load of tosh this film was friggin hilarious. Thoroughly enjoyed it

reply

I thought this film was okay. Alas, the main male characters are all a bunch of obnoxiously and horribly unappealing sexist jerks who are impossible to either like or care about.

I'm a totally bitchin' bio writer from Mars!

reply

Well I really enjoy this movie. Makes me laugh and I love the cast.

Cockneys vs Zombies is way better, but I think Doghouse is spot on for a comedy horror.

Not everybody likes the same stuff,
But I'm a fan!

Saw it on SKY's Horror Channel last - pretty much what I expected and reckon the rating of 6.1 is just about right.

Swithering between giving it a 6 or 7 - I was feeling generous so gave it a 7.

I didn't mind this film. Seen worse.
