Can Italians satirize Berlusconi?

And live to talk about it?

And would Italians pay to watch satire like that, or would most of them boycott it? How would the Italian media react?

Come to think of it, how did the Italian media respond to this film?

Thanks for alerting me to this! On that board, however, one poster writes:

"Il caimano" don't talk about Berlusconi and Berlusconism: the film has a couple of good scenes about it.

Believe me, we're living in a dictatorship here in Italy.
Berlusconi is a tyrant bound to Mafia.

I believe you. I just wanna know why more Italians aren't upset about it.

Most Italians have been lobotomized by Berlusconi's TVs throughout last 25 years...

Italy gets the leader it chooses. It gets the leader it deserves. Anything better would be undemocratic.

I wholeheartedly agree.

Berlusconi satirizes hismself when he opens his mouth. As an Italian comedian said, "satire is dead, the best material is being published on the newspapers"

So true!

perhaps a berlusca doc would be better suited for 20 years from now, once we've had the time to digest his legacy. i usually find that biographical movies about living people can be difficult. they are often ineffective because we are so close to the real person while they are still alive and therefore it is hard to be convincing. servillo's performance in il divo was genius and therefore successful, but it might be tough to match.

i thought that brolin did a good job in W too.

otherwise good biographical films about current figures are few and far between.

although there may be a few im missing.

Of course Italians can satirize Berlusconi. There are posters all around Rome making fun of Silvio. You see it in the media too but obviously none of the media outlets that Berlusconi controls. Italians can complain about Berlusconi all they want. The fact of the matter is they keep voting for him, which isn't a bad thing considering he has provided some sort of stability that has been lacking in the Italian government. The poster who says Italians are living under a dictatorship. Don't listen to him, he's a moron. For the record I'm English and have been living in Rome for the past year and before that Sardinia.
