Bel Respiro

Coco's House - was that the real Bel Respiro, or somewhere else? The Arts and Crafts style is very striking.

So (a) was it the real one, or (b) what house was used in the film?

reply

No, it's not the real villa. Jan Kounen said in an interview that art director Marie-Hélène Sulmoni had re-created the interiors and that a larger villa had been chosen, so that they had room to work. Of the villa in Coco Chanel's time, no photos still exist so they had to guess a lot. I am sure the villa in Garches has been changed a lot after she sold it, otherwise there would have been no guessing. But Chanel, the company, gave full access to the filmmakers of their archives and Coco's apartment at 31, rue Cambon.
What villa they used in the movie I could not find. There is no filming location info here or anywhere else. If it's not in the credits of this film (will have to find on the DVD or watch it when it is going go be shown again in my town), I don't think we will know, but then they don't want us to know.

Thanks for that, even if it leaves us guessing!

I will for sure buy the DVD when it's there,September or October, and next year May they show it again on a big screen in a cinema in my town.
