Can't watch it - the video is so dark, it's just unwatchable. Also the audio seems wrongly mixed - sound effects loud, speech quiet. I love all things Stravinsky, but if you can't actually see what's going on... Or is this just the DVD - perhaps the movie was fine and someone's buggered up the mastering of the PAL dvd?

shareI just recently taped it onto VHS (remember them???) as it was broadcast on SBS here in Oz, and the picture quality was quite good. To my eye, the only bits that were dark were the bits that were supposed to be dark. The rest was good, with fine colour reproduction, which isn't bad, given the non-DVD recording medium.
The story and characterizations were another thing entirely, however. I will comment on them in another thread, if I can summon up the energy and the desire...
