I would say probably not but I guess it was very much an open ending.

If he drowned, I could have some sympathy for him. But no, that's not what he does. He swims out to sea in order to dump the body. That is all. When the body washes ashore somewhere further down the coast, no one will respect that he is responsible. It was utterly disgusting.
