At the start of the film, she leaves the crime scene, and takes a ride on a train. Any guesses at her destination, and why does she return? I know that it really doesn't matter to appreciate the film, but it is a curious beginning for a movie.

Because she didn't realized what she had done. Somehow she blocks the experience from her mind. When she comes back to the apartment and sees the two guys, she freaks out, although at that point she doesn't fully understand what happened. Even years later she can't remember everything.
shareHer alarm goes off, she ignores the blood in her bed, showers and leaves to go to work in what appears to be a library. It's only on the trip home that she seems to notice the bruising on her neck. She seems truly shocked to see the bodies when she returns.
