late last fall when they started showing the trailer in theaters the MPAA rating clearly said PG-FOR CULTURAL AND PARENTAL NUDITY THROUGHOUT. the rating is now PG-FOR CULTURAL AND MATERNAL NUDITY THROUGHOUT. which means they kept in the naked mommies but cut out the naked daddies.
LOL - I wonder if there were ever any naked daddies, but the word "parental" implied there were - and the MPAA had to make sure everyone knew they wouldn't be subjected to the abject horror of seeing a penis or male buttocks.
carrotflake....there is probably a good reason for this. The naked mommies are probably only showing their breasts while nursing. This is non-genital nudity in a non-sexual context and is important to showing the maternal bond. A naked daddy might show a man's penis in the bath. This is genital nudity that most people would find far more offensive. So if they did cut out the daddy's nudity, it is completely understandable. If you want to see a penis, go rent some gay porn.
There's a beautiful scene toward the beginning of Paul Morrissey's "Flesh," with father Joe Dallesandro playing on the floor with his infant son--both completely nude.
Let's stop being scandalized by the human body, k?
Maybe they took out Parental nudity because it would SUGGEST dad nudity that wasn't in the documentary? Maybe they just wanted to describe the content in a way that let people know specifically what kind of nudity they'd have in it so they know what to expect going in.
