great things guy has said on triple d !!!!!!!

‘i’m a convertible camaro. not a dumptruck!’

'wow. picklelistic!’

'look at that. cabbage bling!’

'you got your phd in delicious.'

'you a’int jokin'. that bird is smokin’!'

I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said, "... I drank what?"

reply

"What's your natural hair color?" (or something to that effect)

The male chef seemed ticked off that Guy asked him that and replied, "What's YOUR natural hair color?"

Guy: "I don't know, it's been so long since I've seen it." (paraphrasing again)

reply

this needs a paraphrase too!
guy said-‘if you really want to find out if someone’s from charlotte, north carolina! you ask ‘em where ‘the penguin’ is & if they send you to the zoo. they a’int from here!'

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3DnvdPUR4Y

he gave ‘mad props’ to landmark diner here. no idea before the show. going there for breakfast. like most days now. thx guy!

I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said, "... I drank what?"

reply

He said The Penguin's corn dog tastes "Cornmealy." Now I want a corn dog (kicking myself for not buying some this morning). Thx for the youtube link.

Another gem from Guy:

"Nice hook, Captain" (Re: a dough mixing hook)

reply

a little disappointed in guy tonight after the cook said- ‘of course you put in some thyme!!’ he didn’t add-'that along with some effort is what makes the meal.'

I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said, "... I drank what?"

reply

Thyme & effort . He must've been too crazed with hunger to think of it.

Guy to chef while they were stirring: "Shall we sing a song?"

Chef: "Go ahead."

Guy: "I'm singing one right how in my head."

reply

was that when guy started to do his collard green dance? waving them in front of his eyes?

also. 'that skillet’s been places.’

Not sure if that's the segment. Too many kitchens to keep track of. lol

also. 'that skillet’s been places.’
As long as it's been in savory, yet sanitary places

I can't get over what Guy or one of the employess said about the "everything on it" $179 pizza at Brick Oven Pizza in Baltimore. Have you ever been there? I'm thinking that if I order a $179 pizza, they'd better have a full layer of each topping on that one pizza

reply

i don’t think i’ve been there tho, baltimore does have way better pizza & italian food than dc. also. guy’s dance was way funny. very hula dance like!

I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said, "... I drank what?"

reply

"I feel like I'm in lasagna surgery here at Flavortown Memorial."

"That's some gangsta lasagna right there."

I got some goood lasagna tips from that episode

(stomach growls)

reply

what episode was lasagna?!! that would be way good at a diner. or a dive. i bet it's really good at a drive-in. when lasagna gets upscale it's never good.

I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said, "... I drank what?"

reply

They showed it this past weekend. I deleted it already, but I'm trying to figure out which one it was.

Before the lasagna they showed the same chef forming these massive meatballs and then baking them in the oven. They finished baking and Guy said the bites he took fell apart as soon as he put them in his mouth. Then the chef sliced up some of the giant baked meatballs and put them in the lasagna. (stomach growling again)

reply

is this it? from baltimore??? only had the sub with soppressata there. yum! yum! yum! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AmUlzPApPU good soppressata in charlotte?

I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said, "... I drank what?"

reply

I didn't get to check out the link yet, but that may be it! I was about to zero in on a Baltimore location, thanks to the Food Network site (although they could use better cross-directories and better episode descriptions).

reply

i don't think that place was it. guy from what i saw wasn't that gangster on the 'l'-baked subway they were driving. if you know whatta mean. also. i called people in dc. they have had it & never heard it was good, too.

I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said, "... I drank what?"

reply

I kept meaning to say that -- it wasn't it. The one I saw, the chef was a guy who made his own pasta from scratch, used deeper lasagna pans and lined the side walls of the pans with lasagna strips. For the homemade noodles he put a few cups of flour on a board, made a well in the middle, added a few eggs, oil (olive?), sprinkled in some salt, kneaded it together by hand, ran it through the pasta maker and voila...extra wide noodles. Each serving was a tower of lasagna -- I believe with marinara sauce poured over each piece to ensure it was 'tomatoey'

reply

i wonder which place it is then!?? i'll keep my eyes peeled!

one of my fav guy sayings- ‘it’s always a party when you're rockin’ the havarti!’

I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said, "... I drank what?"

reply

Don't know if I've had Havarti cheese. Is it good? I have a feeling I'd like it

I finally found the restaurant with the towering lasagna and gigantic meatballs. It's Mulberry's Italian Restaurant in Lackawanna, N.Y., near Buffalo. Couldn't find an official website, yet, or the specific Triple D episode name...

Review:

"I had the best manicotti I've ever had at Mulberry's a few weeks ago. I brought the giant meatball home for a friend. My dining companions enjoyed their meals very much. We got a lot of food (soup, salad, entree, great bread) for a fantastic price, too." (courtesy of http://www.yelp.com/c/lackawanna-ny/restaurants)

This review has pics of Mulberry's food but no pics of the lasagna:

"You're gonna shake, shake, shake, me into the E.R."

They showed some more good-lookin' lasagna tonight -- the one that was baked in what looked like quiche cups. It's tough watching this show when you're off of pasta, bread, etc.

reply

"I may have to go home and shampoo my goatee."

Guy to male chef: "You be Cher, I'll be Sonny."

reply

'that's so good i could eat it with a flip flop.'

'give me the rub down!' aka rundown.

The episode appears to be called "Homegrown and Homemade." You may have seen it tonight (Friday night) and it may be shown again May 23rd at 3:00pm (ET). Originally aired 5/3/10. IMDb doesn't have it listed yet. Tsk tsk

reply

i didn't catch it. tho, i will be looking & i'll put my shades on the back of my neck so as to see way clear.

‘what is this!? a peruvian smorgasbord!?’

I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said, "... I drank what?"

reply

I didn't catch the name of the place tonight near Salt Lake City, but I had a good laugh when he was eating a taco or burrito and said something like, "Why use a tortilla? Why not serve it in my hand or my shoe or my pocket?

At Modern Cafe I think he said, "I'm cleaning myself like a cat."

reply

'hey. it's father taco!'

'i like to mix it, mix it.'

I guess I missed that part? I was getting ready to go to the store and left after the Charlotte segment so I could finally get crab cake ingredients . There were some other things he said that I thought were funny, but the facial expressions and hand gestures were the best parts
