Is this a two parter

I thought the ending was crap if not, didnt the monster die in the original book etc?

reply

No, it was a one-off. It was laughable!
Yes the monster did die in the original.

Listening for your love, I don't hear a sound...

reply

thought as much, and yes it was pretty crap it could have bben done a lot better.

seems to me they put a lot into the production of the first hour or so then rushed the end and spoiled it.

reply

Probably didnt die in this one so they can do sequals.

I think it was one of the "big" one-off dramas designed to make us think of ITV1 as a proper TV-channel - rather than the home of crap for Sun-readers - again... Though, if that's the best they can manage, my finger certainly won't be troubling the number 3 button on the remote any more often

film 4 im sure would have done a better job

or have a partnership like Band of brothers

BBC and HBO/ABC would have done a bigger budget tv film with decent actors, better monster makeup/effects not a deformed human with an alien mouth, better story and decent actors unlike this travesty

reply

I thought it was a two parter. It was a total travesty. A completely under-developed script with practically no characterisation and abysmal plot pacing and structure. Who at ITV thought this was good enough to buy and then transmit? An hour and a half of my life I'll never get back.

EDIT : The writer also wrote 'The Legend of the Tamworth Two' which was equally badly written.

Yeah - "Cardiac Arrest" was good. And, "Invasion: Earth" was excellent, if ultimately a bit depressing - the WW2 scenes were exquisite and still pop into my head from time to time... Sadly, this was, at best, mediocre... Like a first draft, with some good bits, but desperately in need of tidying up and a lot of reworking.

I think the big problem was that it was clearly intended to be a 2-parter but in postproduction it was edited done to a 1-parter. The last 15-20m were incredibly rushed and left all sorts of questions unanswered. The UK DVD release is going to be 15m longer and a "directors cut" so presumably the director wasn't happy with it either.
