Shaun Attwood episode(Maricopa County Jail)

I love this show, but this episode is BS. It may be a tough jail to be in , but by NO means is it anything like the prisons in South America or Asia. Producers tried to make it seem like it was "hell on earth". And while any jail is no fun place to be, I'm pretty sure inmate murders and bad conditions are a part of every jail.

Also they attempted to make it seem like he did his whole time at Maricopa County. He did two years and then went to the State Department of Corrections.

I agree the conditions weren't as bad as a Thai or Mexican jail, but I guess we expect an American prison to be much more humane than other countries prisons. However conditions were pretty poor to say the least with the governor even admitting he spent more on the guard dogs food than the inmates. The food they did have was rotten and inedible, the place was infested with cockroaches and ants. Inmates were brutally assaulted and in some cases murdered by other inmates. Drug use was rife in there, so I wouldn't say conditions were that easy. I don't think 2 years in that hell hole was a walk in the park. I agree jails should be punishment in itself but believe they should be humane and there should be an effort to rehabilitate offenders, not make them into violent drug addled individuals just to survive. The countries where they have really nice prisons seem to work in creating a less violent and more productive inmate. There are however obviously going to be individuals who cannot be reformed whatever the actions of the prison.
