Prom Night (the original, not the crappy remake)
My Bloody Valentine (again, the original)
Heavy Metal
Quest for Fire
Scanners
Videodrome (so bad it's good, but I say it still counts)
Strange Brew (the origin of the US's idea of what Canadians talk like/act like)
The Amityville Curse
Naked Lunch (often hailed as one of the greats, from what I've heard)
Exotica (1994 Cannes Film Festival prize winner)
Screamers
Kids in the Hall: Brain Candy
Cube/Cube 2: Hypercube/Cube Zero
Existenz
Ginger Snaps/Ginger Snaps 2/Ginger Snaps Back
Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter (so bad it's good, still counts)
Spider
The Snow Walker
The Final Cut
Shake Hands with the Devil
Beowulf and Grendel (not the CGI movie)
Black Christmas (Canadian/American co-production)
Fido
Trailer Park Boys
Good Luck Chuck (American/Canadian co-production)
Pontypool
Prom Night remake (Canadian/American co-production)
Blindness
Metal: A Headbanger's Journey
Global Metal

No love for films from Quebec? And Videodrome = so f--king crazy it's great.

Big Gulps, huh? Alright. Well, see ya later!

I agree, we don't make great movies because we don't have the deep pockets Americans do thanks to the big American studios. Canadian movies are always low budget.

reply

Uhh...the USA has come out with pretty crappy ones, too, but the country isn't to blame. The studio and the budget are.
