Gay connection

Can anyone please tell me what, if any, relevance this film has to the gay community? I have seen it written about on a number of gay sites and this is how I found the movie. I was trying to find a gay movie online to watch and this came up. To my knowledge there wasn't one gay character in this film. The only thing remotely gay I saw was at the party when the two girls were making out in the shower. Other than that, one homophobic slur was the only other gay connection I saw.
