How the hell is this rated so badly?

I thought the writing was funny and full of dark humour. A really strong and bleak critique of politics. Bullock was incredible in it, the rest of the cast was also very strong.

At the worst I would rate this movie a 7/10. How the hell is it sitting on 5.7?

It is not her typecast "miss congeniality" role - any of her fanbase from those roles is going to be unhappy with it.

Neither was Gravity, which she won awards for. Or was The Blind Side which she won an Oscar for.

Because this movie was trash.

I also think it is underrated.

I also believe it was underrated. Sandra's character was bot very likeable. Some may mark down for that.

It's gone up since you posted this. I attribute it to the fact that it's user ratings and some are dramatic when rating. Their fave actors and films they automatically rate a 10 and ones they don't like a 1. I wonder if some actually rate without seeing the movie? Reading some posts on message boards, I wouldn't doubt it!

I like to think that many of the knee-jerk 1 and 10 votes are discounted in IMDb formula. I have to believe that. I'm very stingy with my 10s, and I give even fewer 1s. As for this, I gave it a 5/10 -- a bland execution of an important topic. Oddly enough, there's no way on IMDb to rate a film average (that would be 5.5), which is what I think this film most deserves.

Have to agree with you. It deserves a better rating. The story of the movie was just a platform for a larger message.

People need to actually think through and research who they are behind and not just support them based on emotion.

Definitely underrated.

For me, it was too similar but also inferior to other films of its type, such as "Wag the Dog", etc...
