Bored beyond belief

I went to see this last night at the Arclight in Hollywood.
Did not enjoy it at all. It felt like a rambling uninteresting mess of a documentary.
If you look at GOOD music documentaries they are intriguing, engaging and you leave feeling like you know more about the band then when you went in.

This felt like an annoying friend showed up with his camera and just kept recording for the sake of it. The director said he had 300+ hours of footage and the first cut was 8 hours but they got it down to a regular length for this release.

This is a really interesting band with a great talent. To have not capture ANY of that on film is both shocking and disappointing. The lack of "current day" inserts by the band makes me wonder how much they support this or are involved.

If you love the band - you'll still enjoy seeing footage you never saw before and hearing songs take shape. However, make no mistake. This documentary can't compete with many of the high quality music documentaries that have come out in the last few years.

I can agree with this, however I knew that this wasn't the intention of the doc when going to see the movie. Would be great to have a Green Day documentary like you mentioned though.
