Is Leah Remmi going to teach kids about space aliens??

No, seriously, is she? She belongs to the church of scientology, and they believe in space aliens. So, is she?

Why would anyone want to watch anything by her, or Tom Cruise, or Jenna Elfman, etc. etc.

I know, a persons religion is their business and their freedom but I'm sorry, I not only can't take seriously anyone who cleaves to a "religion" thought up by a sci-fi writer (and a really bad one at that) from the 60's, I also find them unwatchable. I just can't seem to be able to seperate the character from the idiot playing the character. And I also know (in some cases from personal experience), that actors, for the most part, aren't exactely Mensa candidates, but still...

And be honest, would any of you want this woman anywhere near your children?

Please, go away, and take John Travolta and his wife with you. I just can't take any of you seriously.

Oh, and while you're at it, please let Katie go.

Ok, if we're going to go by your standards...do you no longer watch anything with Tom Sizemore since he keeps getting arrested for drugs and abusing women? Ditto the drugs for Charlie Sheen, Robert Downey, Jr., Matthew Perry and about a thousand other celebrities. And don't forget the alcoholics like David Hasselhoff. And Rosie O'Donnell just admitted the other day that she drove drunk on more than one occasion in her 20's. Let's talk about Hollywood legends too. Marilyn Monroe, Cary Grant, Errol Flynn, Charlie Chaplin...the list goes on and on. Do you have problems with gay celebrities too? Then don't watch anything with another thousand or so celebrities from Rock Hudson to Neil Patrick Harris. And considering the moral high ground on which you're standing, you probably also don't want to watch anything with any celebrities who have been unfaithful to their partners, so that probably diminishes the list quite a bit. Now, let's think about all the other miscellaneous legal issues celebrities have had--Brandy's hit and run, Halle Berry's hit and run, Robert Blake's murder trial...shall I go on? Guess you'd better just stop watching TV and movies altogether and pick up a book. Just make sure you don't read anything by Michael Peterson or...well, I think you get the point.

I love the not-so-subtle hint in your post about your having met one or more actors. Congratulations. So from that "personal experience" you can draw the conclusion that actors are, "for the most part," stupid. Tell me, does anyone in your life meet your expectations and standards? Do you surround yourself with Mensa members and teetotalers? Well I, for one, am impressed. I've never run across a perfect person in my life. Again, congratulations.

Someone who believes evil aliens are inhabiting their bodies (and uses the methods they use to get and keep people in their religion) and someone who has a car accident are similar? I can see your overall point but try to stick to it.

reply

You oversimplified my example of a car "accident." The collision might have been an accident, but leaving the scene never is. My use of those examples was not to compare to anyone's religious beliefs, it was in response to the original posters obvious superiority complex and judgmental statements. I did stick to my point, you just took it out of context.

Believing in space aliens as part of a "religion" may be crazy, but some could say that believing that some guy could supposedly walk on water, make water into wine and heal the blind is just as crazy, don't you think? My signature line has never been so apt.

All right, I wasn't going to bother to repsond to your responses lilsnapdragon but since this seems to be a "thing" for you, you've torn yourself away from talking about "Scrubs" twice now, I will.

Firstly, by your yardstick judging by your first response, unless someone is perfect they have no right to judge anyone else or comment about anyone else, am I understanding that correctly? Ok, few problems with that; I don't know anyone who's perfect, so by your ruler, no one is qualified to judge anything anyone else does...ever. Is that what you're saying? Gee, then I guess if I said Charlie Manson is a monster I'd be way off base, not being perfect and all. And I guess it means that no one has the right to pass judegment on anyone or anything, no one having yet achieved perfection; that means our court system is pretty much out the window, using your yardstick that is...kind of bodes ill for society as we know it doesn't it?

And if perfection is indeed the requirment for having an opinion on what others do or say, it stands to reason then that you consider yourself perfect since you expressed a rather strong opinion about my original post.

Moving on; I was commenting on an idividuals spirtiual beliefs and exposing your children to those beliefs, all the examples you gave had to do with the criminal code. You would have been better to use Mel Gibson, a rabid anti-semite as an example. I would not want him around my children either, for the same reason I wouldn't want Ms. Remmi. I believe their personal/religious beliefs show them to be seriously flawed individuals, that's my opinion, your's of both may differ. Of course, not being perfect, you shouldn't pass judgement on Mr. Gibson either (you're not perfect, are you?).

If you'd like me to compile a list of things I've found fault with that celebrities have done since the advent of cinema I can, it will take some time and would be a very long list. It is however irrelevant to my original post, I was commenting on one person, her personal religious beliefs, and a role she is playing having to do with children, I stand by my judgement of that. Given what this woman chooses to believe I consider her a complete fool and I would not want her around my kids, I stand by that too.

Regarding my "not so subtle hint" about my having met celebrities, it was not meant to be "subtle" and was not a "hint", it was a declaration of fact, my job has brought me into contact with "celbrities" on a regular basis and, for the most part, I've found them, as a group, to be less than impressive intellectually. I'm sorry if that came across as subtle...wasn't meant to be. It just happens to be my personal experience. And my opinion.
And I wasn't looking for congratualtions; why in the world would I seek congratulations for having business relationships with actors? Would you look for congratulations for doing business with doctors? In my opinion they contribute much more to our society than grown men and woman who make a living playing make-believe. I don't idolize actors, I don't even look up to them, I find them kind of pathetic and very difficult to deal with professionally, congratulations are not needed or wanted, believe me.

Lastly, regarding your last post, in fact I do find the catholic religion to be silly, I'm an agnostic and I find pretty much all religions invented by man to be somewhat silly. However, many personal friends/family members are christians and I have no problem with them, that's their choice. I happen to find belief in such things as unsustainable when exposed to the light of day, but to each his own. Some "religious" beliefs are so beyond pale however, that they cry out to be made fun of; Scientology leads that list. And some cry out to be condemned, radical islam immediatly comes to mind. Again, that's my opinion and not as yet having achieved perfection, I suppose I should just keep it all to myself. But I won't.
