Batman guy isn't a martial artist

I'm just now watching this on hulu and the guy doing batman claims to be a black belt in TaekwonDo and other martial arts, yet when he's doing the on camera schooled martial arts he doesn't seem to perform as though he is a real martial artist. For instance, those of us who have reached the level of Black belt or even a white belt the first thing you are taught is how to position your fist for a punch. This guy fails at that for one, and his stances. About the only thing he did right was pushups. Just an observation.

I noticed it too. Even if he was moderately skilled in a different martial art he wouldn't look so bad doing a basic stance, block, punch, etc, so it wasn't even an exaggeration.

reply

His whole story was made up.

reply

Yup - its pretty obvious that the guy is totally delusional. The shot in the TKD class looked like it was his first time there...And lol@him being an enforcer for the mob...

Sad thing is his wife seemed to swallow the whole act.

Well, she did say she believed about 50% of what he said.

Yeah, upon further reflection, I've come to the same basic conclusion.

Age can slow you down, it can shorten your reflexes, but there's a few videos flying around YouTube where he's gotten into street fights and.... he doesn't look like he's had a day of training in his life.

Even with the costume blocking some of his eyesight, the adrenaline, and any age/abuse to the body, he just doesn't even *look* like he's had formal training, or if he has - he's forgotten every minute of it.

"You've shown your quality sir. The very highest."

reply

It been ages since I've seen it but doesn't his girlfriend say she doesn't believe most of what he tells her?

reply

Yeah, she said whenever he tells you something it's probably 50% true, lol

"I'll book you. I'll book you on something. I'll find something in the book to book you on."

That dude. out of all of them, even Superman and his claims of being Sandy Denis' son, Batman appeared to be the most fake. The whole bit about killing people who accidentally killed his first wife, working for mob bosses, basically making himself out to be a hired assassin, when he couldn't even do simple karate exercises, I dunno, seemed fishy. Batman is a dark character so it felt like he was making up a dramatic past to fit that Dark Knight image. But hey, the world is crazy, you never know what can be true.

I was a black belt in Tae Kwon Do since I was 15 (am 38 now)... there's no way in hell "Batman" knew a single martial art. The moves might be different between the disciplines but basic balance and technique are not. He was beyond uncordinated. When you turn during your form to perform a basic block, you keep your balance low, pivot, swivel the hips, lock and block. Literally, in Tae Kwon Do, it's the FIRST form you learn as a white belt - all blocks.

Even when he was shooting a gun, he talked big about weapons but he no idea what he was doing.

reply

He could very well have a black belt since they are rather worthless and anyone can earn one

Gotta love McDojos

Batman was full of it...he even had a tick--every time he lied, he'd stick his tongue out to the side.
