Guess How Much They Make

Average? That might be a bit too high.

With their limited work schedules (coming to panhandle around Noon, probably only getting 5 or 6 'good' hours out of it), as well as their poor living conditions, I suspect they'd be lucky to clear 150 a day. Let's assume they're not doing this 7 days a week (let's assume 6). Even at 150 a day they're clearing 800 bucks, and lets assume 40 weeks they're working a year - 32k, not bad for mere panhandling.


Jennifer told a story in the movie that she'd sometimes make less than 30 bucks in 3-4 hours which would mean she had to stand out in the baking sun for for less money than if she were a starting employee at Costco who gets to stay inside a cooled/heated building nearly all the day and doesn't have to "beg" people for money.

Hmm, I don't know, I figure that the tourists who go to those areas plan to spend some money on silly things, and what's sillier then giving ten bucks to a fat dude in a home made Space Ghost costume?

I could see them doing $200 easily if they're hustling well. Not all at once, 5 here and 10 there, it adds up. Of course, they'd have to be 'on' most of the time, unlike homeles speople who have to look pathetic and sad, these guys have to make you want to be around them. They'd have to be smiling and upbeat, so I figure it's like working as a waitress.

For the ones not even trying to look like the characters I'd bet they'd make around 40-50 bucks, while good ones can make a couple hundred, and the great ones can probably make a few hundred a day. Then you have to consider the time of year because I bet they make more during vacation times like the summer and weekends are probably high traffic times as well, even at night. This all of course is based on the idea that everyone they are meeting with is tipping them.
