Bad, bad, bad

And I don't mean Leroy Brown!
Wow, I never thought a movie could be this bad(yes, that is hyperbole). The acting was terrible(even for Syfy) and the story wasn't much better. The only good thing about this turd was the last shot(literally). Did any one else cringe ever time Francesca Cecil opened her mouth? Thank goodness she is pretty.

reply

This was bad even for Syfy, though I always love their movies in spite of their awfulness. Francesca Cecil was bad, though her brutal fake Southern accent was really no worse than everyone else's. (The acting actually was unusually bad for a Syfy original I thought, that is usually not their worst element.) Nor I fear was she presented as babelicious eye candy enough to overlook this.

The tone was just off, too. The lead guy's brand new girlfriend is horribly murdered in front of him and almost immedatiately after he is exchanging aggressively manly quips with the new sheriff, whose hostility toward him never really made any sense. A little more plot and character logic would have been nice, especially in a movie whose basic premise was ridiculous and poorly explained.

reply

It appears that this was filmed way back in 2007. What could take so long to get this on tv? The writing was bad; the direction was bad; the actors could only do so much within those limits.

There wasn't enough good development of the story. There were parts where the pace dragged. Like the town hall meeting part. Then there were parts towards the end where it seemed like the writer was piecing together poorly connected progressions. Maybe those three years between filming and issue date were spent frantically and desparately trying to edit this film into something more cohesive.

reply

It took so long to get it on TV because they could not find anyone to buy it. This film was not made by syfy but they bought the rights to it years after it was finished. The film was shown in McMinnville last year. It was shown at film festivals back in 2008.

reply

I wanted to like it . . . As much as one can like most of the Saturday night flicks . . . but I'm still not sure if parts of the plot confused me because they weren't explained, or because I just couldn't really be bothered to pay full attention!

Tho it is dark . . . know our flag . . . is still there.

ABC = Already Been Canceled.

The movie was not bad at all - kept my interest as I Tivo'd, and watched late Saturday night.

I love when IMDB's come on a trash acting, writing etc. that was not bad at all. Get real.

No friend you get real. That movie was terrible. What part of the production did you think was "not bad at all"? I love schlocky Sci-fi/horror flicks but this was beyond bad. And not even so bad so it was actually decent. I rank this one right up with "Intermedio" but without the eye candy.

reply

Intermedio was awesome!

It gives me reason to believe one day maybe I (who have no experience) could produce a horror movie on a low budget staring my friends, and family that could be viewed on the Sci Fi channel.

reply

Lol, you win. I thought I enjoyed watching bad movies. The strange thing about "Intermedio" is I actually own it on DVD(it was a blind buy).

reply

I am more entertained by bad horror/sci fi than dishing out 20 bucks so my wife and I can watch actors making 8 figures on screen.

Give the Edward Furlong's another chance - IMO

reply

Here are a few of the low budget gems I think are decent: Severed Forest of the Dead, The Ugly, Braindead, Flight of the Living Dead, and Shallow Ground.

reply

I saw Shallow Ground and it fit perfectly with what I like. I will try and find the others.
One of my favorite Horror/Comedy's - Monster Man - recycled but very funny.

reply

Monster Man was the balls. Loved that flick and the fat friend who slept with his friend's girl was classic. "Hangers" was also a decent but real low budget sick movie.

reply

I am interested in "The Crazies" coming out soon - looks twisted.

reply

I have had my eyes on that for awhile. It stars that guy from "Deadwood" Timothy Olyphant. The Romero original wasn't too bad either.

One thing Brad knows is how to make it to the finish line. Which is more than I can say for all these critic.

reply

when this first started out, i thought it was a gay horror flick, but i've seen gay porn with MUCH better acting than this!

reply

The fact that you watch gay porn (lol), and are willing to admit it, pretty much tells us everything we need to know.

BAD!

Finish line! Where's your movie and your finish line?

reply

The worst piece of bulsh!t I've ever seen

reply

Decent story but the acting was awful

A lot of ADR work too - sometimes it seemed like whole chunks of dialogue were replaced - made me think my copy was out of sync

Half Irish, Half German - hated by all. But at least I'm not Welsh

reply

it was awful - the scene where the 'old' black man delivered the exposition was my favorite... somewhere between cringe-inducing and hilarious. the accent, the backstory, the dialogue, the clichès at every corner, just... wow. a bad movie, but not entertaining-bad.
