Kingpin tells/speculation....

I"m hoping what I think is going to happen does happen. Like someone else pointed out, the laugh of the "Uncle" sounded exactly like Vincent D'Onofrio's laugh.

But there were also a couple of other "tells" that I think popped up.

For example, exactly after the suited/arm scene (the Kingpin always dressed well), the next shot is of the "Fat Man" garage - a homage to the mistaken thought of the Kingpin being "fat" instead of muscle.

Then, a bit later when Barton and Bishop are in the diner she makes a remark about someone being "fearless" - another homage to Kingpin? - Daredevil (I'm not suggesting Daredevil is also coming, but recall - Daredevil's sub-title in the comics was "The Man Without Fear" and he became one of Kingpin's top foes in the comics, so I'm wondering if the word "fearless" was another tell that Kingpin is on the horizon.

I bet I'm missing some other tells, too.....

I doubt any of the Kingpin's men dared to call him that or use the phrase "fat man" around him. So that could be just someone having fun using the set, and maybe as a hint.

"fearless" is a bit of stretch. I mean Bishop's father is dead and obviously not blind. I am not sure that is even a hint.

But I also hope Kingpin gets involved in the story. Majority of the netflix's marvel series are well done, I think Kingpin as a character stood up the most. Unlike Disney, seemed trying to be edgy and experimental or something, since taking over. I hope starting from this show there is going to be a change of direction.

I think this'd be awesome but I wonder, how does MCU's Kingpin stack up against Barton?

Barton's only human, and retired at that, but I'd assume with a single phone call he could bring the full weight of the remaining Avengers to bear. Rhodes, Bucky and Sam could wipe the floor with multiple Track Suit Mafia gangs. SHIELD may be extinct (we don't know for sure since the ABC show has severed ties with the MCU), but Fury's still active and apparently stronger than ever with the Skrulls behind him. Or Barton could just call his friends from that fishing village in Tønsberg, Norway.

These aren't the Netflix Defenders he'd be tussling with.

In the comics, How does someone like Fisk handle threats way out of his league? Would it be like that time Joker tried to use bombs to threaten Superman?

Or is the Kingpin smart enough to put up a reasonable fight with Marvel's superbeings?

(Heck, maybe he uses the Sokovia Accords as a weapon against them).

Kingpin might look like brute force but he is a finesse player. He is much more than his muscles and usually several steps removed from any street gangs.

He has to be dealt with a scalpel, not a hammer like most avengers. Otherwise it will quickly look like avengers are abusing their powers and looking increasingly like a bunch of super criminals bullying average citizens and businessmen such as Kingpin's associates. Especially after the death of Capt and Iron man, who really trust Hulk or Thor?

Especially after SHIELDS is gone, whatever remained dealing with avengers is likely run by the power broker, I think she is more than happy to disown the avengers which she could not control.

Yep that sounds about right.

I can easily imagine D’Onofrio’s Kingpin playing the victim should War Machine come crashing into his apartment (or prison cell).

In a way, he’s almost more vulnerable to “street level” people like the Netflix version of Karen Page, who was willing and able to goad him into losing control and killing her.

Much more interesting character than he seemed in the comics (when I was reading them over 30 years ago), and definitely way more intriguing than the Rhys Davies or a Clarke Duncan versions
