Pass. Endgame was a nice close.
Loved the ride but the superhero trope is wearing thin.
For you.
Rather amusing how naysayers/detractors have been trying to convince everyone of this so-called fatigue for, at least a good decade now, and yet naysayers have been proven wrong time after time. Truth is, the always evolving (film elitist-disapproved) superheroes show zero signs of slowing down! But we shall see... we shall see if THIS YEAR you “it’s over!” bunch (both fans that feel like bailing after Endgame and non-fans that whine about the good ol’ days of cinema no longer existing in true film nerd fashion alike) will FINALLY be right after all this time! Lmao.
Now bye, bye!
Bye. You might grow up some day, too. Have fun.
shareLook, I've got superhero fatigue, too (loooooong before Endgame...) but just because DracTarashV2 still digs superheroes is no reason to insinuate that he hasn't "grown up" yet.
shareGrowing up is not some curse. I envy being unspoilt with experience.
shareIt just seemed like you were ripping on him for being unwise or unlearned - childish - because he liked superhero movies. If that was not your intention, then forget what I said.
shareThank God for internet policemen
shareI'm not sure what you mean by this...?
shareAnd one day you might!
shareI doubt it; this is the first thought I've given it since, well, I guess a year ago.
shareHow time flies
shareI still don't know what happened on this thread, and I still don't care.
Kinda funny that it comes up every 6-12 months, though.
As it turns out, Hawkeye isn't too bad.
shareI watched both episodes tonight. I really like Renner and Steinfeld in their other movies and thought this would be a good pairing. I liked how he’s sort of the old grizzled hero who doesn’t take her seriously and she’s the wide-eyed adventure seeking kid. Some of their dialogue was pretty clever and not like I’d seen in past marvel movies. There was a lot of tongue-in-cheek shots at the franchise too. The story line needs to get rolling a little now that the characters are established but, I found the episodes worth my investment
shareI think the superhero fatigue is very real, it's just not widespread. There's a small cluster of people who just got bored watching the same movie over and over and over again ad-nauseum. That's how it feels to us, anyway.
Yes, superhero flicks are still super-popular.
Although I do lament the lack of originality in blockbuster films these days (and stuff catered more towards adults, like Die Hard or As Good as It Gets), as well as a lack of genre diversity (where did all the comedies go!?) in big releases.
But, too each his own. If you wanna watch superheroes, that's cool. I've loved many of these films (Batman '89, Iron Man, Dick Tracy, Avengers, Logan, and Joker just to name a few (plus "love-hate" with Snyder's Watchmen!))
Well Ace, fortunately there's a place for all off us to write what's on our mind. Where the like-minded can agree and the mindless can disagree ;-) All in all we get to feel a little bit less lonely.
shareYessir! One of the many reasons I love the message boards and am thankful that moviechat showed up to replace my IMDb experience!
sharewhere did all the comedies go?
shareA couple of articles talking about this:
https://www.theatlantic.com/entertainment/archive/2014/07/the-completely-serious-decline-of-the-hollywood-comedy/373914/
https://www.indiewire.com/2017/08/judd-apatow-why-studio-comedy-films-struggling-1201864555/
That's what I was referring to.
Comedy is dying because everyone is offended by everything. That’s a pretty easy answer for that. It’s really sad, but that is the case.
Most jokes come at someone else’s expense, and since pathetically no one can handle a simple joke anymore, people get sick of making comedies knowing the “social justice“ brigade will be waiting with their pitchforks to bitch and moan like only they can to try and get the movie banned or boycotted. At least we’re FINALLY seeing some push back and resistance to these overly sensitive wastes of oxygen who live to be offended.
Agreed
shareLets hope it goes the way of the western.
shareIt totally felt like the end of an era, like they were wrapping up the Avengers, especially as "Endgame" was released shortly before all the movie theaters shut down. So I can't say I have much interest in seeing "Black Widow", or "Hawkeye", those sound like the kind of movies that I'd agree to go to without a struggle if I were having a movie night with friends and someone really wanted to see it.
That said, I'm totally eager to see the upcoming "Thor" and "Doctor Strange" sequels! But those are the superheroes I like, unlike the unappealing Hawkeye.
