lacks depth of emotion

50mins in and I don't really give two hoots about any of the characters. It feels like a nickelodeon movie. Like they tried too hard to keep it rated PG and lost the point of the original movie. There is no growth. Where is the message? The characters seem to learn nothing. The original states that talent alone will not be enough. This seems to turn that on its head. Sad really cause if they had taken a bigger risk it may have paid off more!
