'Out Here On My Own' and untalented :(

The remake movie is terrible but one thing that they could've gotten right. If you are going to use 2 songs from the original movie, make damn sure they are equal or better than the original. What a joke... This girl sounds like metal on metal and her voice is not pleasing nor does her face reflect the pain that she has gone through.

Pathetic!! It's so funny how you can tell how young the people are who write the posts here.. The original has nothing to do with the remake except for two songs. The original was filmed when the culture of NYC was very different. No AIDS, race relations sucked, and there was only one school which developed
talent the way it should be. Singing, dancing, acting & musical were together taught throughout 4 yrs.

Today, it's dancing with a super producer who can change your vocal ability to make it passable while you lip synch and dance, which is fine. Just pointing out the differences.

Hmm well even the director of the movie has said that this isn't so much a remake as it is a sequel. God forbid anyone try to modernize anything.
And you're the first person I've heard who didn't enjoy Naturi Naughton's voice. I personally thought it was fantastic. She can hit plenty of high notes and it doesn't sound like metal on metal at all, at least not in my opinion.
Also, it doesn't need to reflect the pain she's gone through, seeing as how she hasn't gone through any that we know of. Her dad stresses piano her whole life (stressful, not painful); but before she sings Out Here On My Own, she seems content; bored, but content.

Jasper? Oh Hale yeah!

Lighten up! It was fairly entertaining in a surreal, amateurish, urban, High School musical kind of way.

yeah i agree about the singer, i dont know what the OP has against her, the movie was very shallow and the character development was poor, but i think this person was just trying to nitpick and create issues where there were none.

I didn't hate Naturi's version of Out Here On My Own, but I didn't love it either. She did a fine job vocally. But to me it sounded like she was trying to power it up too much. Shout sing and be loud. The original song was performed with an emotionale intensity without all the scream singing. Naturi's version is a reflection of today's American Idol performances and for that reason alone it annoys me.

I'm a big fan of Fame and old enough to remember the original TV series. Obviously I'm biased towards the original But Naughton is a fine singer and did a good job.
