Anchor Bay, Starz and Omega Entertainment Group have purchased this film

Anchor Bay, Starz and Omega Entertainment Group have purchased "Columbus Day" from the financially troubled Trigger Street Productions.

Trigger Street intended a theatrical film festival debut and then a limited theatrical release afterward in 2008.

The film festival theatrical release planned by Trigger Street for this film has been scrapped despite the script winning multiple awards and the still-unused promotional material already developed. Money is the issue and the new distributors are looking for the most profitable modality for release.

Anchor Bay and Stars will use different promotional artwork and even a different cut of the film that is more "action-oriented" instead of the original character-driven cut for a DVD/Blue-Ray release late Q1 2009 in North America. Sources indicate that the action-cut is against the wishes of the director and cast. No word as of yet which cut of the film is better or if there will be any reference to such on the DVD/Blue-Ray.

Hopefully it will be available soon - too bad director and cast don't have more say in what happens with their film, money does always seem to be the bottom line. Anyway the trailer looks good and I look forward to it's release. Thanks for the update. Peace
