Why did he throw the money?

Around the end of the movie, where he is in the car with his (ex)wife, he took out a bundle from his hidden pocket and threw it out of the window? wtf?

reply

probably because it was stained with his blood

If you look closely, you can see that the pack of money stopped the bullet and holds the slug. And so he's throwing it out because it is evidence that could link him to the crime.

He threw the money, as lawrenceoliver said, to get the evidence off him. By the time that he passes customs in the airport, he will be landing in whatever country as the heat starts to come on him. He really is not so much after the money, as he wants his past life back. I felt that it could of had more plot development, but I took it as it was.

Ok link him to the crime , so now hes got stolen money , WITH his blood (DNA) on it , and a bullet from the mexicans gun inside the money etc. Yea hes away Scott free here...

In addition to what everyone else has replied, I think it was also symbolic that he finds his family more important than money. That was one of the major plots along the movie, anyway, so I figure it makes sense.

There was also another reason why he did it. The Cops were following him and the crowds which collected to grab the cash effectively blocked the pursuit.
