Why kill Billy???

was he threatening to go to the police?

reply

Billy told John “I’m ready to confess” - John convinced him it was better for everyone if Billy took the fall because Billy “had no one,” and because John’s family needed to be protected.

At some point, John decided it was safer to shoot Billy and stage it to look like a suicide, rather than rely on an unstable alcoholic to make a convincing confession to the police.

After being arrested, John adjusted his plan and took the blame himself, instead of implicating Ryan.

Yeah apparently John talks Billy into CONFESSING to killing Erin (when he didn't) so that John's son Ryan wouldn't be blamed for her death.

But JOHN never plans on letting BILLY CONFESS to the COPS (because he was going to kill him up at that lake).

why not let billy be the fall guy?

reply

John was probably afraid of BILLY screwing up and telling the COPS what really happened.

In light of what happened, it does not make sense.

If John had murdered Erin, then we could buy that he's a fratricidal sociopath. Except he didn't murder Erin, and Billy was helping with the coverup for the sake of John's son.

Most of the logic fell apart at the end.

That said, it never really made much sense for Billy to say he murdered Erin. What was his motive? DNA testing would have revealed he was related to DJ's biological father.

The idea was suppose to be JOHN talks Billy into going to jail so that his son won't have to be locked up. But you're right, why would Billy agree to do that when he also complains about how John had BULLIED him his entire life? Going to prison for one's own son is one thing, going for a nephew is another. John mentions how he had a family and Billy didn't, but that's also not enough reason for Billy to lie. And then Billy also discovers how John never really plans for Billy to make it to jail (because he didn't think Billy could be convincing enough to LIE to the cops).

And What else doesn't MAKE SENSE is WHY DYLAN would put a GUN into the face of JESS if he didn't KILL ERIN, because then that means he'd be PROTECTING the reputation of JOHN by doing that and be worried that JESS had told the COPS the TRUTH about him.

So WHY would DYLAN give a DAMN about JOHN or his reputation when JOHN's also the one who BLAMED him for getting ERIN pregnant when he didn't??? And then JOHN also planned on having DYLAN support JOHN's son for the rest of his life (which also includes paying for the SURGERY)???

If anything DYLAN should be PISSED enough to go to the COPS (like Jess and Brianna do) and tell them how JOHN had FRAMED HIM (which would also have solved the case much sooner). But instead of doing that, the writers decide to USE DYLAN as a way to keep the VIEWER thinking DYLAN killed ERIN.

And in the process of doing so they also end up with a PLOT that MAKES NO SENSE whatsoever by the end of the story. Because the only thing HIDDEN in the JOURNALS was JOHN's being the father of ERIN's son instead of DYLAN. So WHY would DYLAN chose to HIDE that FACT enough to threaten the life of JESS, when he should be FURIOUS enough about what JOHN and ERIN did to him (and the way they planned on USING him and his family as an ATM MACHINE to support JOHN's INFANT son) to GO TO the COPS himself??

That whole "BURNING the JOURNALS" situation is RIDICULOUS (as a way to HONOR ERIN's request that she makes to JESS not to reveal to anyone that JOHN's the father of her son).

WHY would DYLAN want to KILL JESS as a way to HIDE that fact???
