Did I miss something?

Or was the movie just disappointing?

The trailer made it sound like this big dark mystery movie, and it had me really looking forward to seeing it, but the turnout that the girls were really just standing in a circle telling their secrets to each other was just disappointing. I feel as if it should have been marketed differently. The whole time I was watching it, I kept expecting something to happen that never did, some big twist or reveal.

I personally think some of the fault lies in the labelled genre of the movie. They themselves (on their facebook, website etc) call it a teen drama, while sites like Rotten Tomatoes and iTunes have labelled it as a horror/thriller, it kind of just set your hopes for something different, and if you're not who the movie aims itself too, it's easy to be disappointed.

It was definitely horribly mismarked, but I think in a way the horror is supposed to be what one small lie can do to a whole community and how just wanting to be a part of something or wanting some attention can change so many people's life for the worse. But that's definitely a different type of horror than what it's mostly been marked as. I'd say teen drama with some darker themes, if I had to describe the movie. But I felt that the climax and showing what the sisterhood was really about was very touching and something I think a lot of people would in reality love to be a part of.

Fair enough. I think I should probably watch it again, keeping in mind what the film is really about, and not going in expecting a horror film.

Do yourself a favor and don't bother watching it again. You didn't miss anything. The writers seemed to not put in enough information as it was. It was a all together badly made film.

THERES NO ROOM IN MY CIRCUS TENT FOR YOU !!!!

Agree. The whole film felt very uneven to me. Like it wasn't quite sure what genre it wanted to be. Add the fact that the direction was quite pretentious and that the characters were mostly unlikeable (except the guidance counsellor), then this was a painful sit through for the most part.

Well, I didn't perceive it as a genre movie at all and I also didn't go into the movie with any expectations as to what it would be. So I enjoyed it. I'd call it "moderately memorable," if only for some fresh takes on old tropes. The charismatic leader not being an evil bitá´„h for example.

I was a little disappointed while watching it, as I kept waiting for the horror element. As a coming of age drama, it wasn't bad. Once the movie was all said and done, I could look back on it and appreciate it for what it was.

I went in not knowing what genre it was and I actually really liked the movie. It definitely has it flaws, but it was beautifully shot and I liked the characters.
