Questions about the end

This may be the first movie ever for which I can't just find a simple explanation or discussion of the ending online after watching it. Can anyone help me out?

I just watched it on Netflix; it was okay but I think I may have dozed off for a bit in the middle. Did I miss something which foreshadowed the ending? What was the significance of the cupcakes, was there something she said about her father calling her cupcake as a nickname? Am I supposed to presume that the father had been having sex with the daughter and that's what was written in her journal? Like I said, I might have missed something, but that's the impression I got based on the final lines of dialogue.

You answered your own question basically.
Actually she mentioned a boyfriend who called her cupcake. In the end we realize the 'boyfriend' was her father.

Thanks, I wasn't sure if there was something more complex about that reveal which had eluded me. I guess not.

How did the guys who took her journal know she was talking about her dad?

She probably mentioned her father in the journal. One a person keeps a journal they usually share things that are private and would not talk about to many people.

I did not get this movie. What was the point? Who killed her? The drug dealer? Why? What was the point of the threesome? All this to find out her father had sex with her. I'm so confused.

The drug dealer or the business man killed her. The reason is they found the ear ring of the murdered woman who was in the room before them. That part wasn't that confusing. They just don't show you her actually getting killed.
The threesome had nothing to do with her father. They were just engaging in something taboo and sinful and they would pay the price for it. It is a film noir thing.
The filmmaker doesn't put the pieces together for you like more mainstream films do. She knew her father had sex with her. She may even have been cool with it. She just happened to keep it in a diary that would be found by the drug dealer. Thus the drug dealer and/or the business man would use it to blackmail the father so he would back off.

Oh thank you. I was wondering how the GHB dealer and the business man we're tied in, it seemed strange that they would kill them over the earrings they found, but I get it now. I got the cupcake part, but didn't get the end. I thought maybe she had run off with pusherman and the suit and was exposing her father by sending him cupcakes. your explanation seems 100 percent more accurate then mine, and I kind of like the movie a bit more now. I thought it was brilliant, but I'm not that bright enough to connect the pieces haha, glad you did.
