First Take 9/29 Discussion

Max had some good points today, but he is still way too left on social issues. I also don't like how he says people who disagree with protests aren't nuanced enough to understand.

Stephen A. needs to stop yelling though. You could tell it was too much as he started to lose his voice halfway through the show.

Max has a right to his opinion; that is the whole point of the show. Who are you to say he is "too left"? You have a right to your opinions, as well; we all do. Max makes an excellent point about people who denigrate protests lacking sophistication. Too many people forget dissension is the highest form of patriotism. If we really care about our country, then we must speak truth to power. Pledges of allegiance and standing during national anthems are stock actions; many people perform them mindlessly. I'm really sick of people hiding behind the military while vilifying honest people such as Kaepernick. Most military people defend the right of people to protest. Perhaps you prefer fascism, as embodied by the interchangably awful main presidential candidates.

greenegg; Steven A. Smith called out Kaepernick as a hypocrite who admitted that He did not even vote in this last Presidential election. As for speaking the truth does Max always do so or does He ignore issues that are not favorable to His political point of view. This past Labor Day in Chi-Raq the former Chicago 9 People were killed 46 wounded and it was not Conservatives, N.R.A. or I.R.A. Members that got itchy trigger fingers, but Afro-Americans who are not noted for their marksmanship.

Stephen A. Smith was right to call out Kaepernick for his cowardly, lazy failure to vote, which he made worse by telling the press about it. I have no patience with people who gripe about things if they do not even bother to vote. It's a shame Colin compromised the good things he's done with young people and the issues by foolishly failing to fulfill his duty as a citizen.

As for Max, I don't really think the incidents you mention have directly to do with his point about the right of anyone to protest. When I say "truth to power," it's a turn of phrase, rather than literal "truth." Truth is a relative term, at any rate.

Though I looked up Chicago 9, I had no idea who they were/are. Black on black crime remains a terrible problem, which must be worked through. That issue does not excuse the rash of questionable police shootings, all of which must be individually adjudicated. I don't really see how "Conservatives, NRA or IRA (Irish Republican Army?)" pertain directly to that discussion.

greeenegg: I.R.A. Illinois Rifle Association. How it pertains is People like MAX blame everybody else then those that are pulling the trigger. They perpetually purport or propose what 'White People' or Conservatives a supposed to think and somehow they have the solutions. Also they whip out that 'race-card' whenever it is convenient. As for the Chicago 9 had no trouble finding them and pictures. We do not go into Afro-American neighborhoods and open up anytime the temperature gets above 75'F.

You clearly are unable to engage in thoughtful debate. You also write in a confused, vague manner. I found the Chicago 9, but I don't find them relative to the topic. You seem like a typical tea bagger talking in circles. I don't have battles of wits with unarmed people, so welcome to my ignore list.
