I am 25 years old. Will I like this movie?

Okay, I'm an adult with no kids. I like comedies and I dare say, I enjoyed Enchanted.

My question is, will I like this movie?

Is it really dumb down for kids, or does it have some jokes or themes that adults can understand and enjoy too?

And haters, please don't post here saying, "It sucks! Worst movie ever!"

At least tell me WHY it sucks. Weak characters, weak plot, really dumb down for kiddies, etc.

Thank you for your time.

reply

No, it is not dumbing down kids.
It's an enjoyable family film, with some laughable scenes.
It's a cute movie. I don't have kids but I'm an animal lover and I saw it and loved it.
Anyone that says this movie is crap from what I've seen have NOT seen the movie, and are judging it based on previews.

But I saw it and loved it. Go see it.

I'm 32 and have no kids, I took 5 of my sixth graders to see the movie and I think I liked it more than them!

Stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay gold.

Three years late, but still one cannot resist commenting on the glaring grammar error by someone who seems to be a teacher in what one presumes is the American education system. "... I liked it more than them" means that you liked the movie more than you liked the sixth graders. I think you probably meant "I liked it more than they". This is called an ellipsis. The sentence is an abbreviation for "I liked it more than they liked it."

no, i don't think you should waste your time or money.

If you are between the age of 5-110 you will not like this movie.

reply

I did, and I'm 25 as well. I am an animal lover, dogs specifically, so the movie being about dogs made me like it. I thought it was very enjoyable. I took my mom to go see this because she likes these types of movies, plus the chihuahua on the poster looks exactly like her chihuahua Daisy, so she expressed a lot of interest in watching it.

For the record, I am an educated, career-driven, independent woman. Please don't assume that just because I am 25 and liked this movie that I am "stupid" or "high."
I'm not ashamed to admit that I liked it.

Haha I like dogs too, but not Chihuahua's, in particular. Reminds me of rats, and their always nervous and stuff.. really annoying :P. BIG dogs are MUCH better

reply

TRUST ME... I did! and it was the best movie ever. LOL

I'm in my 30s, and I liked this film much more than I thought I would. I am a dog lover (even though I don't have a dog), so that might explain it, but the film actually had a storyline, and, most surprising, was NOT about spoiled, rich Bev Hills dogs. The majority of the film takes place in Mexico as the dognapped Chole encounters various pooches on her quest to get back home. The film was just plain cute; won't win awards, and isn't all that memorable, but a fun way to while away the afternoon. The kids in the audience loved it, and the parents seened to enjoy it, too, particularly the cute romantic lines uttered by the love-struck Pappi (sp?)to "mi corazon."

Yes, I agree sunraider. This movie surprised me with the direction it took when they went to Mexico. I originally thought it was going to be annoying, because I, too thought it was just about spoiled rich dogs in Beverly Hills.

No, you will NOT enjoy this movie. My little sister did not even smile through this. Stop trying to defend this damn movie, its worse than alle movies ending in "movies". Peace out. Waste of damn money, god damnit.

I am 54 years old and own a Jackahouhou which is half Jack Russell, half Chihouhou. I saw this movie with six other family members and we all enjoyed it immensely. I think it is now my favorite Disney movie ever. I just found out it lead the box office two weeks in a row. It had many good morals in it, including honesty, hard work, respect of your employer, helping each other. The romance was so wonderfully played out by the canines and humans. I laughed and I cried both in the movie. I enjoyed the settings used, both the mansion scenes and the Mexican towns and the desert. My great nephew and I both agreed that this movie was as good as Cars. I am going to buy a copy on DVD for myself. You will also learn a lot of new Spanish words if you are interested in becoming more fluent in a second language. It raises awareness of animal abuse if you wish your children to be enlightened on this.

punkin_flats,
I am 61 years old and I too own a Jackahouhou although I didn't know that a Jack Russell/Chihouhou mix had that name. My Jackahouhous name is "Bart Man Simpson" Named by my son 18 years ago.

Just to lighten up the conversations on here I am posting some off topic tid bits.

My wife and my son both tease me about how much I love my dog "Bart".

1.
Wife- "Either Bart goes or I do"
Self- "Teach him to cook first"

2.
Son- "I think you love Bart more then me"
Self- "You're a close second"

OK back to the movie and why I am posting here.

Coincidentals:

You and I both have similar dog breeds and are close to the same age.

Since Bart Man is so old my wife and I had been looking for a replacement for when he is no longer with us.
We couldn't decide on a Jack Russell, Jackahouhou or a Chihouhou.
My wife liked the idea of a Chihouhou.
I prefered the Jack Russell so we compromised.
We got two Chihouhous.
We named them "Pepi" & "Chloe" before we ever even heard of the Movie BHC.

Due to all mentioned above in this post My wife and I just had to see this movie the day it came out.
I like my old dog Bart Man have trouble hearing. (I missed some of the dialog and even my wife with keen hearing had trouble hearing over the comotion in the theater)
So we will buy the DVD upon its release. (Closed Caption is a must for me).

Everyone I talked to coming out of the theatre absolutly loved BHC.
Suprisingly there were more adults without kids then what I exspected.
There were plenty of Kids and they were all thrilled with the Cuteness of the movie and the music.

I know a lot of young people hate Chihouhous.
They are not the best pets for young children.
They actually are more suitable for older people.
They get very attached to older people more often then to younger ones.
I think they are more aware of their small size and delicatness then most dogs.
They react accordingly and show an irretating agresivness toward strangers.

So yes I understand the bad reviews.
I understand some of the posters disslike of Chihouhous.
The movie in my opinion is a very good family movie.
My opinion I know is based on my love of dogs and personel preferrences.

The movie itself is doing quite well at the box office.
