Maybe it is me, but I found the students in this supposedly religious school to be very disrespectful and rude to their teachers and elders. The adults seemed to put up with it too. Clearly most of them had no real belief in Christianity either. I would think they would have the common decency to play along and pretend that they did!!?? I always thought religious schools had less tolerance for this sort of thing.
shareI agree totally! In fact, it made the film feel contrived, because every single one of the students--even the sympathetic one--was so disrespectful and rude. There were a lot of things about this film the didn't ring true, and if not for Isaiah Washington's really REALLY good performance, I would have stopped watching. I realize that low-budget films can't afford extensive exterior shots, but there's no reason why all the exterior shots had to be close-ups and repetitive (of the church entrance, of the rectory window, of the classroom mall). At least get a telephoto lens!
