only a 6.4 rating? I am guessing the Russians have been downvoting.

It has everything. A gripping plot with good story arc's. Period piece, Drama, Action, Military, Romance, Drama, Crime, Thriller, Mystery, Horror. Everything up to but not including Fantasy and Sci-fi......AND THE ACTING IS SMASHING!

I just don't get the 6.4 rating??!

Totally agree with you when i saw the rating i wanted to know if i was the only one to think it was underrated...

They have, but they've been countered by all the people voting a wholly undeserved 10/10 for a clunking, badly written and for the most part not very well acted misfire that doesn't know what it wants to be when it grows up and just tries to cram everything in until the whole murder mystery becomes an afterthought.

I know this goes without saying...but, I'll say it anyway...

You were free to vote the way YOU WANTED; but think others SHOULDN'T HAVE the same option?

If one person sees it as a "masterpiece" and another sees it as a "clunker"...isn't each equally entitled to their own opinion?

--Some folks loved it.

--Some folks hated it.

--Those that loved it...voted high.

--Those that hated it...voted low.

Don't see the problem.

And I also have the option not to take seriously 10/10 votes from people who admit in their reviews they don't think it's a 10/10 film in any way shape or form but are simply upvoting to counter the downvoting. Neither is a credible indicator of the film's quality.

Yes...NOW you get how it works.

Apparently if you're Russian or read the book, this movie sucks. But ignore the haters who can't see past their personal bias to recognize a great film.

reply

In general, people aren't finding this movie that interesting. It's supposed to be somewhat of a thriller. Where are the thrills? It's flat.

It's just not that great of a film. Hardy and Rapace were decent in it, but the movie itself isn't all that great.

One of the reviewers on this site wrote that it was an exciting time under Stalin and people were so proud of him. I guess his family must not have gotten one of those knocks at night where an entire apartment building would be praying they hadn't come for them.

He also denied all those millions who were starved to death in the Ukraine to break their importance in relation to Moscow. People in the Ukraine welcomed the Nazis as liberators at first. Until those idiots slaughtered the locals just like Stalin's goons.

I don't know everything. Neither does anyone else

Heck, people were deathly afraid to NOT act like they were proud of him. It was an awful time to live in the USSR. Stalin was a brutal dictator. If it was such a good time, like the person suggests, they would never have had a De-Stalinization policy. Even their subsequent leaders admitted to what an awful person he was.

I'm sure Holodomor denial is as common a Holocaust denial. Some people are just averse to the truth and reality.
