I haven't seen the movie yet but notice there are 3 swedish actors in it (Rapace, Kinnaman and Fares) playing russian characters which bothers me a little. Why not just hire three russian actors or let the sweeds play swedish characters? It's not like our languages are very similar anyway. I don't know, maybe they do convincing "russian performances" but i just think it's a little strange.
How old are you? 14 years old? So non Russian actors should not play Russian characters in your opinion? Nonsence! 😱If you want to watch Russian actors watch a Russian movie. Besides it is not a Russian movie and they could cast whoever they wanted.
Of course non russian actors can play russian actors, just watch this movie! But my point is that it makes more sense to have russian actors playing russian characters, don't you agree? I'm sure Russia have pretty good actors. And no, I'm 24 years old.
I saw the movie. I do not see any special reason why Russians would play in the movie. Only because it is about their history? For some reasons they did not decide to cast them, maybe they were not so good as other actors. Besides I do not think any Russian actor would dare to play any character in the movie. Probably they would have only unpleasantness in their own country.😐
No, I am not a racist. Again you had problems with understanding. I do not like current Putin's pro soviet policy. That is a difference but it is a too serious topic for you. Do you love me that you follow me?😂
You constantly have problems with understanding. I said: "For some reasons they did not decide to cast them, maybe they were not so good as other actors." It means that they maybe were good, but not better than the others - the chosen ones. Do not insult me, like you do in case of many people in many places, only because you seem to have asperger syndrom.😒
Yeah, I see you has already created your own story based on my comment and trying to manipulate it as always. And in the end you are certainly the attacked person.😑 I finished discussion with you, it is like talking to the wall.
blablablabla....as always the last word must belong to you. Otherwise you will get sick. Yes, another smiley face. You use them very often too, how short memory you have. You called yourself a drunk wall? At least you described yourself properly.Byebye.😒
So if it was adressed to you, then she should look at your story, read your posts on other boards and all of your insults addressed to me and other people like "dummy", "moron", "delusional", "idiot" and other unpleasant words and she should read what other serious people think about you on other boards. Many people told you before they do not want to talk to you anymore because you have low knowledge, manipulate their comments, create own stories and insult them. Happy? I think so. If you are happy calling me a racist, idiot, dummy, moron, be happy. Good life.
No, that is not true. Only on this board some people did not agree with my point of view, that is all. And I have never insulted anyone with invectives. I wished you good life so I do not understand why you are still insulting me.Yes, we already know thay the word "muppet" is another your favourite word addressed to people. It is strange how it makes pleasure to you. reply share
Man,I post on many boards. I did not say that you HAVE a mental condition and never said to anyone that has a mental condition before, do not manipulate. I did not start insulting you. I did not use any invectives. It is funny to read that I am insulting you when you use in the same post the word "muppet" to me. How long are you going to continue it? Otherwise I will really think it is something strange with you. I wished you already good life. You can write what you want.
I would be glad to meet anyone of these trolls face to face. They would never have the balls to talk like that face to face, especially IMDb nerds who gets pissed off about a Sweed playing a Russian. I always said, if you can't talk to someone face to face the way you talk in forums, don't talk that way at all.
State champ in martial arts, trained with firearms, I eFF'n dare you!
I see it like this, they where not as good as the other actors, or they where not better, witch means they where evenly matched. But maybe they choosed these actors because they have bigger names in europe, it will rise the popularity of the movie.
Some Swedes do it well. I only learnt a few months ago that Peter Stormare is actually Swedish, not Russian.
Anyways, this is not a Russian film. Based on the trailer they should have hired Russian actors, not on principle but to avoid alll their characters sounding like cartoons but what's done is done.
I think he even looks Russian! As to the accent, well I am not Russian so might be that his accents is awful but I just don't notice, it convinces me.
I just saw 'Enemy at The Gates'. Brits playing Russians, without trying too much with fake accents. It makes for a much more believable movie experience. I can suspend belief that English is subbing for Russian, when I am not reminded every second that it is English they are speaking.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rurik I think he is refering to Rurik who was called upon to govern first eastern slavic city-states. Aaand... his origin is still pretty much debatable.
I've seen some drivel written in my time, but this thread takes the biscuit. If some of the people making entries here would care to put their brain into gear for just a short time, they might consider a couple of points. The intention of making a cinema film is to make a profit and few people from the USA and the UK go to the cinema to watch a non-English language film. So having an all Russian cast would mean that the number of people going to see Child 44 could be counted in one popcorn tub. People have always portrayed characters of a different nationality to their own.
Here are some British actors who have portrayed American characters: Charlie Chaplin, Andrew Lincoln (Walking Dead) , Christian Bale (Batman Begins) , Gerard Butler, Idris Elba (The Wire), Orlando Bloom, Robert Pattinson, Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy), Hugh Laurie (House), Damian Lewis (Homeland), Vivien Leigh, Tim Roth, Jamie Bell, Anthony Hopkins, James McAvoy, Clive Owen, Andrew Garfield, Dominic West (The Wire), Hugh Dancy, Dominic Cooper, Michael Sheen, Tom Hiddleston, Sean Connery, Rosamund Pike, Stephen Moyer (True Blood), Matthew Rhys, Cary Grant, Gillian Anderson, Delroy Lindo, Rebecca Hall, Tom Hardy, Kim Cattrall, Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years A Slave), Laura Fraser, Alfred Molina, David Oyelowo (Selma), Carmen Ejogo, Tom Wilkinson etc etc etc
Here are some Irish actors who have portrayed American characters: Colin Farrell, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Liam Neeson, Gabriel Byrne, Michael Fassbender, Richard Harris, Peter O'Toole, Maureen O'Hara, Aidan Gillen, Saoirse Ronan etc etc
In Hollywood, Russian characters have been played by Swedish actors on a number of occasions. This has apparently led some to perceive Swedish accents as Russian ones even when they are not intended as such.
But in general it happens quite often that people play other nationalities than they really are. I assume they happen to have the right look and feeling. Fares Fares might not get the role as Sven the Sveedish even if he would probable excel in it.

How come you only care about the Swedish actors? Why don't the fact that Tom Hardy and Gary Oldman are British bother you? There are a lot of non-Russian actors in this film, and yet you only care about the Swedes...
They are actors. Their nationality doesn't matter, their acting does.
