Why couldn't An Inconvenient Truth be as good as this?

It seems this movie was not only far more entertaining, but sent the message a lot more clearly.

because AIT only talks to people's brains with facts and figures. Home uses beauty and emotions. It's more like "behold all these beautiful things about to disappear". People weirdly consider it more a shame to destroy beautiful things. Just as if if it were ugly, well, good riddance...
Yann Arthus-Bertrand is a photographer. He knows how to make something "usual" appear beautiful. Al Gore is a politician. He knows how to talk to people. But feelings always prevail over reason.

Absolutely. One is a direct hit to the brain that makes you think about what we are doing, the other is a muffled narcissistic exercise to make you think that the producers of overpriced designer crap actually give a stuff about anything beyond their bottom line.

This is just an inferior copy of Koyaanisqatsi with a preachy message. And it's going to the wrong people anyway.
