Question about the wife's motivation [slight spoiler]

If everyone is finished excoriating this movie for copying a French film (and let's face it: so much of what's popular in Bollywood is a slavish imitation of Western models, which is a shame because I think Indian movies are at their best when they are distinctly Indian (mostly movies of the 50s and 60s)), I have a question about the wife.

Did anyone else feel that her abrupt departure was not given enough justification in the script? Yes, of course, the husband's dinner game is a heartless ritual, but she has known about it for some time. Instead, at the beginning of the film we get her picking fights over utterly trivial, inconsequential things. She apologizes for one of her pointless outbursts, but then carries on with others and abruptly leaves just as her husband is racked with physical pain.

Of course, the husband is a selfish, insensitive man, but the wife did not seem terribly superior in this regard, and it somewhat marred for me his need to recognize the error of his ways and win her back when she was not much better.

I just wondered if anyone else felt this way.
