What happens at the end?

afterwards Helen recover's Mathilde-friend find s a dog but relapses back into depression where she suicidally runs into a stranger who rapes her. Helen is confused when no one comes to take her home from the clinic and goes to Mathilde's place and finds she wrecked the place. Helen calms her down and stays over night but Mathilde commits suicide by jumping off the roof. Saddened by her loss. Helen returns to David and her daughter and the end shows all 3 running along the same beach
