What a bunch of malarkey!

I know bio-pics are based on "fact" but someone REALLY screwed up big time! Why are they portraying Celine and Rene having an "illicit secret affair" in 97 when they were married December 17, 1994 at the Notre Dame Basilica? Also, Rene's heart attack happened in 91 and Celine was down by the pool when he called her. Even if Rene had sworn Celine to secrecy (as the movie portrays) she made it clear for the world to know on her 93 album by dedicating "The Colour of My Love" to him. And she was sporting a rock to rival the Hope Diamond.

They could have gotten Celine's hair correct for "Because You Loved Me". But hey, what do I know?

House: Hey I can be a jerk to people I haven't slept with. I am that good.

In the movie, (and real life) I thought it was 1992 that they went public.

I didnt know thoses facts until I read your message and just looked on Celine's IMDb page so thoses facts didnt effect my thoughts of the movie, If I had known before then they probably would of

yeah and the part where he proposed happened after they discussed the Titanic song i think... and i think titanic came out in like 1997.... and the baby was born in 2001 and im not sure where the last scene was supposed to appear like, but it seems like it was her "final" performance ever in the club that rene was supposed to make her or something... and the child was literally a BABY BABY... i think they should have made her look older but when she straightened her hair she looked younger than with the short curly hair...

all in all it was a good movie.. but i just like the music mostly.

Anybody who knows anything about Celine knows this movie is total bull sh!t

I agree.

The only remotely right was the end, cause I thought it was at Las Vegas were Celine sings exclussivley (sorry can't spell) as she has always wanted to settle down and have a place to sing at, so I thought it was Vegas.

Yeah I agree, total horsecrap of a movie. First off, everyone on here saying the timeline is incorrect is absoutley right. It isn't just incorrect...it is gravely and pathetically off! I don't imagine Celine knows this movie exists, if she does she has not seen it...because I am sure she would be having a fit about it.
Not too mention , could they make the dirty grandpa love stuff anymore repulsive? It wasn't just daddy issues...we are talking grandpa issues here ok?
Also, she didn't speak English as a child...or even young adult...Celine barely knew a word of English until she started to become popular in the U.S and had to basically give herself a crash course in it to remain popular.

Also, the actress Christine...whatever..with the funny last name (it is that unimportant too me) ...horrible match for Celine. I mean down right pitiful. In factso was the little girl. Besides that it moved WAY too fast, and the acting was very forced it seemed.

My goodness this was terrible! I love how in the end it says Celine Dion didn't participate. No surprise there! It's terrible!

reply

Totally agree with you, I think one of the biggest downfalls (aside from the complete lack of her trademark accent was that while I realise this was not a documentary or authorised biography, the girl that played Celine failed to deliver the sophistication and grace that defines Celine....

So while I'm sure this movie had it's inaccuracies (as all Biopics do), you're whole argument seems to based on the fact that Titanic came out in 97... which is true... but keep in mind pre-production on the filmed started years earlier as it was a montrous project. It's very possible they approached Celine back in 95 or something. Yes, that would still be after the wedding, but it wouldn't be quite as much of a strech, which has to be done sometimes in biopics in order to get all the main points in.

And if you're harping on the fact that she was in the lobby of the hotel instead of by the pool... Wow. I think you've missed the point of the movie....

Any fan that has followed Celine's career would agree this film is ridiculous. Starting with the fact that she didn't speak any English. They didn't even have her singing in French for her demo or first singles. It was poorly done from start to finish. The hairstyles, makeup, songs in the wrong language, songs in the wrong time period (I Feel Too Much). I realize this was not a feature film but even a tv movie about another superstar, say Elvis or Johnny Cash, would have been treated with more respect. This film really is laughable.

I think we're just gonna have to be secretly in love with each other and leave it at that.

It's a movie, for God's sake! If you want 100% accuracy, watch a documentary on her. Of course they are going to take a bit of cinematic leeway. If they presented her life with 100% accuracy the movie would be boring.

Like I said, it's a movie, meant to be enjoyed and give you a little insight into her life.
