Haven't most of us seen this already?

I'm cognoscente that people helped & saved Jews from the Nazis during WWII. But the problem is that there is nothing really news with this same ole tired hero laden concentration camp/ghetto movies in Eastern Europe. And will this film even have polish & German stars actors/actresses in it? looking at the known cast members, we see a Canadian & Americans. I wonder how their accents are going to fare out? I won't know, because I won't watch it. Come on CBS! Bring something new to the table in the age of prime time network films.

Yeah, I can *probably* get by without seeing this...

I am sure you could say the same thing for every movie released this year and most sitcoms on television - they're all the same ole stuff. Yes, we all know about the holocaust and how it affected those in Europe, but this movie provided a different perspective. It sounds like you are saying that no historical movies should be made because they are boring and to tell an "old" story is boring and provides nothing new?

She was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 but she didn't win it. Al Gore won, though I honestly feel that Irena was much more deserving.

After she saved 2500 jewish children the story was lost until 2005 when someone here in the States submitted the story of what happened. This is almost better than Schindler's List. She didn't save these children for money where Oscar Schindler did it primarily to make money. It had been a coincidence that he saved over 1100 random jewish people. This is a brand new story that we have just recently found out about and I believe Hallmark did an outstanding job with Anna Paquin becoming one of the most versatile actresses.

I am ashamed to say that I did not know of her until this movie.

I'm just shy in that way

It was a good movie... give it a chance!

We can always learn from tv films like this (or from the Broadway play I recently saw called Irena's Vow...about a different, Polish Catholic Irena who also saved Jews). About the heart and courage of people who risked their lives when they didn't have to. And should we just tuck this ugly part of history away in favor of the tripe turned out by the Hollywood studios? For me, I'll continue watching movies like this, and even Defiance and The Boy In The Striped Pajamas. Makes me appreciate what we have here and the sacrifices made during WWII.

Here in Poland she is considered a hero and we all are happy that someone has made a movie (which I haven't seen yet). It is, however, sad that such a movie wasn't produced here. Polish cinema creates many generic (most often plain stupid) romantic comedies and dance flicks. Sometimes we produce a movie like Katyn, but it's just a drop in the sea of mediocrity.

Getting back to Irena Sendlerowa - she will stay a personal hero for me forever.
Rest in peace...
