I am consfused

ok. I've only seen one episode so far and I don't get it. In the original series at the end it was discovered that they were on a spaceship somewhere. Then how did she know anything about his case if they are on different time lines?

reply

No, the ending that you saw was the American version of Life on Mars. You should see the original British version of Life On mars staring John Simm as Sam Tyler. Liz White is Annie. I won't reveal the ending to you but to me the ending of LOM the British version is far superior.

I tried watching the US version, got as far as the introduction of Gene Hunt and turned it off in disgust. reading mention of a spaceship makes me glad I did. I guess the writers adapting it thought their audience were too stupid to get the metaphor of the title and the relevance of the song (note: I'm not saying american audiences are stupid. I'm saying american TV networks seem to believe their audiences are stupid)

So they were on a spaceship at the end of the American one? Wow, glad I never even bothered with it.

I saw the American ending on Youtube, weren't they even on a Gene Hunt mission or something?

I miss the red spoiler tags.

reply

They had landed on Mars and were hunting genes for medical purposes.
It turned out that Annie was in charge of the project - bit of irony because she was always the one being put down for being a woman.
If I recall there is a line where she says, regarding her treatment, one day you will all be working for me.

Love is never having to say you're sober.

Oh, boy! I'm bloody glad I never saw the US version.

I suspected it would be a complete Charlie Foxtrot, as US versions of British shows generally are, but I hadn't expected that

reply

A SPACEship???!!!! Bloody hell. I am now thinking of the dreadful play Joey was in with Kate in 'Friends'. Why would they DO that?

reply

Yeah they were all in an induced dream..

reply

Nope that's the US version, which is utter crap compared to the original UK series!
