Wasn't Chris Skelton a Bit Too Old By 1981-83 To Be Dressing/Wearing....

...Such new wave, two-tone Kajagoogoo type hair and such? Marshall Lancaster was about 32 when he played the 1973 version of Chris on 'Life on Mars' and almost 35 when he played the same character, who would have been seven years older by the time the events on 'Ashes to Ashes' took place. I just think it seemed a little inauthentic. How old is Chris supposed to be in the early 80s if he was already a cop in 1973?

The character was probably in his mid-20s in Life on Mars (I'm guessing) so in Ashes to Ashes maybe in his early 30s. I'm in my mid-30s now and I'll wear whatever I want. He's still young at heart and is trying to fit in with his younger girlfriend.

As it emerges that the characters are all in a form of purgatory awaiting progress to the ultimate after-life, they presumably do not age and probably remain the ages they were when they died.

That sounds plausible. Except for the fact Gene did get older, he looks nothing like the kid on his old badge when he got killed. Maybe he's the only one who ages because he's the purgatory's boss or master or w/e.
