how come? I thought that it had a distributor?

reply

It will be in the Toronto film festival

Hi kingy. How do you know that? They haven't even reached the submission deadline yet. June 6 is the deadline. They don't even begin to consider films for acceptance until after they've all been submitted.

the film has already been selected
check the production company's site www.mrnice.us
I'm sure the critical acclaim of their other film Turn the River helped

reply

Wow, that's weird. I cover the festival every year and even have friends who have submitted films (which were selected) and the earliest I know anyone to have ever been notified is July. They are still accepting submissions until June 6. I don't know why they would notify a film that they've been selected weeks before the submission deadline.

I hope it's correct. I've never heard of any film being accepted to any festival before the submission deadline.

well whoever found out about it being at the film festival way back in may was right....here's a quote from sopia-b.org:

"It's been confirmed that The Narrows is to be shown at Toronto International Film Festival:

Seventeen new titles have been released for the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival for 2008. This brings the total films announced to 55 titles, with this round adding excitement to the following programs: 2 Masters and 11 Contemporary World Cinema titles (see announcement) along with 2 Galas and 7 Special Presentations (see announcement). It is thrilling to see that Wong Kar Wai's Ashes of Time Redux is included in the list along with numerous heavy hitters such as Guy Ritchie with RocknRolla, Ari Folman with Waltz with Bashir and Kiyoshi Kurosawa with Tokyo Sonata which won Un Certain Regard Jury Prize winner at Cannes 2008.
