Are there any movies where best friends don't fall in love?

So, it seems like every movie where a man and a woman are best friends ends with them falling in love. Is this realistic? I mean, is it inevitable that any man and woman who are best friends are eventually going to fall in love? What if the woman was a lesbian? Would they still fall in love? This seems to be counterintuitive to everything I've been taught about landing in the friend zone. Is it actually not a problem being in the friend zone but rather not being deep enough in the friend zone?

It's very common. At the very least it usually results in the people having romantic feelings for each other at some point, whether they act on it or not is another story. It's happened to me a few times before.

No. But Kevin Smith did make this into a movie (Chasing Amy).

There's no such thing as the "friend zone". Just an excuse guys use when they feel like a woman owes them sex and they're not getting it. They think if they act nice to a woman then eventually she'll give him sex. And when it doesn't happen, they blame "the friend zone".
