Rachel was unlikeable

Has a hard time caring for and sympathizing with her. She had a bad attitude throughout the film.

I could sympathize with her as Crowe's character was incredibly psychotic, but agreed, she was annoying for a lot of the movie

Unlikable indeed. Always late, unreliable. Selfish (didn't care her son was imploring her to stop). Rude under pressure: she preferred being a bitch over cooling down a heated situation.

I think it was meant so many viewers could relate to her and then tell themselves "Hmm... if I don't want to meet another Russell Crowe in traffic maybe I should be less confrontational and more relaxed myself".

So yeah... I didn't like her either. But by making Russell Crowe over the top crazy, they manage to make us root for her.

I'll say that it doesn't surprise me that her husband divorced her. And Crowe even attempted to put an end to the situation peacefully.

On the other hand, Crowe DOES go full-psycho and even involves people who don't have anything to do with it, so ultimately it's impossible to be on his side.

... not to mention lazy, careless and callous. She's so self-centered that she doesn't even notice how her laziness / carelessness impacts those around her (three tardies = automatic detention).

The back of her car was a pigsty and, on top of that, she leaves her unlocked phone inside the open car while buying gas?

Go Team Russell GO!!!!

A-friggin-MEN

HOPEFULLY that is what the makers of this film intended.
