Another Fake Documentary

I love when someone makes a Movie and calls it a documentary. This will make you believe that these people did all this on there own yet there all together and there are cameras and a helicopter to help them out. This is not a documentary but a big movie stunt. If you waste money on this crap then you are very gullible!

reply

Yeah, nothing cool counts if it is done with any sort of safety crew nearby! all of those jumps that Evel Knievel were pussy *beep* and fake because they were calculated and had fire extinguishers nearby!

Oh wait...

So I suppose all the singular shots of the late, great Coombs bombing various lines across the Alps were not real. They were CGI. And the actual terrain, couloirs, chutes, peaks, and cliff walls are all bogus imagery as well.

Who is trying to suggest that they did this on their own? Of course in some cases a helicopter dropped them off to save them 8000 vertical feet of climbing. And in other cases, a chopper couldn't even land on some of the summits these guys/gals descend so it becomes necessity for them to be able to access these locations by foot.

These athletes, while possibly borderline insane in some cases, take calculated risks and are amazing individuals who inspire awe and majesty in their pursuit of challenge and the surreal feeling and physical pleasures that come from being able to perfectly rip a line on the most difficult and amazing peaks around the world.

Please go away. And never return.

reply

You replied to my Post so I can Make you go away:0 This documentary is not real risk takers doing these stunts individually. they all going the same mountain and all getting dropped off and there are people recoring and there in case soemone gets hurt. IT'S ALL STAGED!!!!!!!!!if your too simple to understand this then waste your money:)

reply

You're a complete idiot. The film makes it ABUNDANTLY CLEAR that OTHER PEOPLE drop the skiers off and OTHER PEOPLE are in the vicinity. And, most obviously, OTHER PEOPLE are there shooting the footage, because how the hell else are we watching the movie? The film makes all of this completely explicit. And you know what? I don't care, because you could have a whole town full of people looking on and doesn't change the fact that the skier skies from Point A to Point B, running the risk of getting killed in the process. If by "staged" you mean assisted in their endeavor, then you're right. If, however, by "staged" you mean that the runs are faked, then you have brain damage.

Oh, and when accusing other people of being simple-minded, it might help your case if you display a basic command of SIMPLE things like spelling, capitalization, grammar, and punctuation. What a clown.

Thanks win200. I couldn't bear to even reply to Yolanda's foolhardy commentary again.

But by Yolanda's logic, because there are camera operators filming and potential assistance if the athletes of Steep injure themselves, it means they aren't taking risks and this is staged. And by that same silly logic, all the shots of the guys and gals of Steep climbing various lines and chutes to ski are "staged" as well.

I can't even believe I am wasting my time replying here, but I couldn't help myself.

Newsflash YOLANDA: All films ARE STAGED. By definition: v. tr. To exhibit or present on or as if on a stage: stage a boxing match.
To produce or direct (a theatrical performance).

Get a grip on yourself. You probably aren't even a skier or winter enthusiast so you have no idea what "risks" these athletes take in attempting to ascend and descend the lines they take. They aren't "stunts" at all. They are real people, skiing real mountains and peaks, and taking real, life threatening risks.

So again, I say leave. And never return. You are a fool.

She made me laugh, now that's good

Made me laugh, too. Actually, I think the remark was fake, and staged to get reactions;

reply

I think you're a fake. Someone else is looking over your shoulder, dictating what you're writing. You're so off-base that it's a waste of time to argue with you.

reply

So I completely agree with all of you and your feelings of disslike for Yolanda-31. I highly doubt that they are a skier/snowboarder/adventurer. I know for a fact by their remark of everything being "staged" that they do not know Coombs has passed away from skiing trying to save his friend.

If they still feel these type of "documentaries / films" are staged, take a look at this artivle:

http://www.dailycamera.com/news/2008/jan/25/ski-film-accident-death-could-prompt-change/

Warren Miller is a well known film maker in the sport of skiing and as that article says, there has never been a death while filming for the past 59 years. So as you can obviously see, these "stunts" or "abilities" of these athletes are not staged.

I would love to see Yolanda try to ski what these athletes ski. I give them the highest respect because I've been skiing since I was three and standing on top of a 10,000 ft mountain with over 60 degree slopes would scare the crap out of me.

I bet you've skiied 180 degree slopes, and maybe even 360 degree slopes, too!

I've never done this or anything close to it in my life, but here goes!
You are retarded and have not a clue what you speak of.
No doubt you are such a fat lazy cow you couldn't get up off the couch to find the remote to turn this off, so you are angry that you had to watch a group of people with more guts than you could find in your yearly supply of hotdogs perform real life action instead of the fantasy life you live on your video games...
There you go, make me go away....

I'm not sure I understood any of that. What is it you are trying to communicate there? That this film is not a documentary because cameras were present? That skiing steep and often dangerous lines isn't real unless it's without the aid of a helicopter?

Trust me, there was nothing fake about Coombs - or any of those guys.

reply

HAHA!!! By now Yolanda Adams has definitely read all these posts and is currently rethinking his/her existence. There never fails to be at least one complete idiot who starts a thread and gets butchered by people who care about maintaining the deserved reputation of an impressive piece of work.

Skiing gives me more thrills than just about anything else I do. This documentary shows just how committed humans can be to their trade. When it comes to risking your life for the sake of the sport, that's when one REALLY LIVES. I'll never be that fearless, but props to this wonderful documentary that is much appreciated for showing those extreme runs seemingly on the verge of death.

FYI -

Incorrect: "This will make you believe that these people did all this on THERE own yet THERE all together..."

Correct: "This will make you believe that these people did all this on THEIR own yet THEY'RE all together..."

There = preposition
Their = possessive
They're = contraction of "they are"

Make a note

(and I disagree w/ you about the documentary, by the way)

OMG. You r all so stpiud! THis was obvioulsy faked!!! YOu could toatally sea the wires holding the skiers up. Some of those mountains wer made of paper mache, they looked sooooooo bogus. All of the skiers were actually only "acting"!!!!!
That means they r fake skiing!! You people r so dumbbbbb!!!!!!!! That avalance near the end was very cheaply done. You could see the film cruew throwing snow at dem from the sides. Total crap!!!

Thnks to Yolanda-31 for pointing out dis stupid mockumentry!

reply

Your comment doesn't even make sense. If there were no cameras and crew and helicopters there would be no film. Period.

reply

Oh Yolanda... you are not very smart:

Hiker #1: Hey look, its a Troll.
Hiker #2: Wow, he is just sitting there wanting to be noticed.
Hiker #1: Yeah, maybe he is just one of those attention seeking Trolls.
Hiker #2: Yep, they seem to be everywhere nowadays.
Hiker #1: Usually they are anonymous but not so much anymore.
Hiker #2: They are harmless if ignored.
Hiker #1: Not sure everyone knows that though.
Hiker #2: Well, lets spread the word.
Hiker #1: What happens to the internet if all the trolls go away?
Hiker #1: Not sure but I'd like to find out.
Hiker #2: Me too.
