They had to take it political

Now that CBS has decided to politicize this show (tonights so-called "survey question" involved the U.S. presence in Iraq), I'm done.
It is now off the air in this house. I'm sure Dan Rather is so pleased.

I couldn't agree with you more. I don't care whether you are for or against the war, I watch this show to be entertained, not to hear some TV host or producer's views about the war. You can leave the politics out of it. The only reason they even asked that question was to show what a low percentage out there still supports the war. And look closely at how they asked the question. Not "are you in favor of the war" or "are you in favor of pulling out now," but "should the U.S. stay in Iraq and finish what they started." The way they worded it almost guaranteed that most people would disagree, and sure enough they got 11 percent agreeing. There are thousands of perfectly innocuous questions to ask, and other which are tangentially political but still entertaining. Even earlier tonight one question was what percentage of men wouldn't mind being Bush's son-in-law. That one didn't annoy me. The direct question on Iraq did. They can keep the politics out of it. I also won't watch any more. Too bad, as I found this show rather entertaining.

I was mad at how they worded it [there has to be more than 11% of Americans supporting the War]. But Drew was good at not going to either extreme in there.

You are right. The question was worded in a biased way (the reference to "finish what they started") guaranteeing that fewer people would agree, including many who might be in support of the war efforts. But I was afraid Drew might go political on us, and indeed he did keep his comments pretty neutral. It seemed the crowd gasped when the question came out. Surprised perhaps that such a blatantly loaded question would find its way into prime-time entertainment.

I am sure Dan cares a lot about what questions are asked on a game show..on a network he has cut ties with.

There is no way that question or any question could legitimatize invading Iraq..or the way the war has been mismanaged..or why we weren't spending all our resources to go after Bin Laden or explain why he doesn't seem to be a concern for President Bush, his words if you were listening or watching CNN or CBS news instead of a game show.

If you are for the invasion why aren't you upset it hasn't been handled correctly from the start, why aren't you upset the contractors have better equipment and protection than our soldiers? instead of being upset about a question on a simple game show?

Your priorities are skewed to say the least.

ps Drew is a Repulsivican.

From Wikipedia

"Political involvement

Carey is also known for his Republican leanings[31] and has expressed support for the Libertarian Party.[32] The Drew Carey Show often presented a libertarian critique of political correctness, government regulations, racism, sexism, and homophobia, with storylines involving Carey's cross-dressing brother, dating a bisexual woman (played by Illeana Douglas) for two episodes, ongoing criticism of the Boy Scouts of America's exclusionary policy against gay men, and support for same-sex marriage.

Drew has spoken about his various political beliefs in several interviews and in 1998, he led a "smoke-in" in defiance of a no smoking ordinance.[33]

In a guest appearance on Blue Collar TV, he said (presumably tongue-in-cheek) "That's why I vote Republican" during one of the skits.

Since the show ended its nine-year run on ABC in 2004, however, Carey has clarified that he is more of a conservative with libertarian leanings, and that he presented himself as a libertarian to avoid what some conservative critics of the entertainment industry claim is a general Hollywood bias against conservatives. On the August 18, 2006 Penn Radio show with Penn Jillette, Carey did however say he was indeed libertarian. He has expressed his distaste for the Bush administration's running of the War in Iraq, specifically on the September 15, 2007, filming of Real Time with Bill Maher.

Carey will be hosting the first season of mini documentaries called "The Drew Carey Project" on Reason.tv, a new online project of the Reason Foundation. [34] The first episode "Gridlock" addresses private highway ownership is set to air October 15, 2007 on reason.tv. Other episodes discuss eminent domain and medical marijuana.[35]"

He said he was a Libertarian, and find something better to do than mock someone for their political beliefs. As much as I can't stand what Alec Baldwin says, I don't insult him for being a Liberal.

But the fact you are a fan of Rush Limbaugh, a noted drug addict, while you spew your dislike of drugs, the fact you invoke the Lord's name cheering on name calling at it's most horrendous "Nazis" (do you know nothing about what the Nazis have done to this world, do you not know how many Americans fought and died and sacrificed to fight the Nazis?) is not good to say the least. and a little scarey that you can't see that.

reply

I was talking about how the Liberals were being Nazi-esqe with what they were doing to Limbaugh.

Where did I say something about Drugs on here?
