this might be a dumb question . . .

and it probably is . . . I know the movie is in Spanish . . . but does Enrique Murciano speak spanish? What I'm wondering is, has he always known it or did he learn it for the movie? I know he is of Cuban decent, but I watched the movie with a friend of mine who is Cuban and speaks spanish and she said he has a "strong accent", as in he "learned" to speak spanish. Just curious! Thanks!

He's been bi-lingual his whole life. So he's spoken Spanish fluently since he was a child even though he was born and raised in Miami.

From different interviews I've read, he did try to model his dialect after the other actors so that he would sound more authentic.

What did you think of the movie?

I enjoyed the movie. I liked the interaction of characters. They all worked very well together.

I'm in Florida (where many Cubans reside) and a Puerto Rican myself who was born & raised in Brooklyn, NY.

Enrique seemed to come off as the parents of Cubans who probably spoke it around the house, but he himself spoke it in a 2nd language....like me. He has a bit of slur & slowness to his speak...quite common for ANY latino who was born & raised in the states...some don't even speak it AT ALL (which has got to be the worst!)

That's interesting. I was curious if he had changed his accent or anything for the film. I am not a native Spanish speaker so it all sounded equally fast to me lol. I hadn't actually realised he spoke Spanish so well, for no reason at all I had thought he was English only (maybe because they didn't make him say much on Without a Trace, which is the only other thing I've seen him in). I didn't realise you'd pick up it was not quite like a native.
