About the baby that belongs to James + Sam

I don't know if it's just me but, shouldn't that baby belongs to Mason? I mean that child's hair was blond and last time I check Sam have black and redish hair, while James has completely black hair. So what do you guy think?

Oh and also the fact that she asked him at the end "Do you wanna hear the truth?" and he answered no. Then she starts going over some lies, then she also said at the end, that baby was not his. So if that wasn't the truth, it's mean the child was Mason's all long!

yeah i totally agree, ppl disscused it already in http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1003010/board/nest/134305882 and im quoting lastluckyduck: "In the DVD commentary, director, writer or producer (I don't remember who) said something about the kid looking like both james and mason and what did that mean. Pretty sure the baby was obviously Mason's, which explains the child saying goodbye to him at the shop window, Mason's longing look, and his smug smile. It was one of those endings that makes us think more than we really need to. One of those endings where it's obvious "what's up", and I think Mason's smile was our closure. Someone was living his life, with his kid, and the joke was on him. Which is why Mason saw the sick sense of humor in it all at the end. That's my opionion.

That's how I interpreted the ending as well.

Yes I too thought exactly the same about Mason being the father all along and the only reason she told him he wasn't is because he always said he didn't really want kids and was always childish and never really wanted to change his lifestyle.

Sam see that and chose James at the end as she knew she would be more secure with him and have a more solid family and life, as James always said he didn't want to share her and wanted them to be together and not be seeing anyone else so Sam added these together and decided that she could live happily with James and the child and live a proper family lifestyle whereas if she had stayed with Mason the child would never of had a secure home with different people keep coming and going due to their open relationship, and Mason realised he was the father at the end but decided to let it go and walk away because he could see how happy the child was and James and Sam so rather than rock the boat he walked away and that was the reason behind that big smile when the child waved and smiled at him.

I always preferred Mason's character over James's and I also think that Sam loved Mason much more and still does right up until the very end but just took the secure option over the roller coaster one she would have had with Mason, and it was also nice to see his old best friend and manager shake his hand and give him a hug at the end to let him know there was no longer any hard feelings about Mason and his sister and that the years had changed that and they had all moved on.

Overall I think it was a very good movie, bit slow paced at times with parts that was totally irrelevant which seemed to be there just to fill the time up on the movie overall and the camera work was off putting being too shaky as well, again I know that was intentional but I just can't understand why?

Maybe there will be a part two to this, as the way it all ended still seems to leave a lot of options for another particular with the child and also his friend shaking his hand etc, so you can clearly see that although he has not been around for so long everyone was still very friendly and happy to see him and if there was to be another I guess it would be around now they would consider making it, now they know what people think of the first and a few years have passed to gather all this feedback to see if it is worth having another pop, very good acting from these relatively unknown actors as well and I am surprised they have not got a lot more work from this movie especially the two lead characters as I thought they was exceptional.
