What's with this movie? It sucked!!!!

I'm a big fan of several of the big name actors (Mexican) that lent their voices for characters in this movie and went into the theater with high expectations.

I couldn't believe how bad this movie was. Voices were OK, but the movie is definitively geared toward kids not a day over 4 years, and then it may prove scary for them.

Definitively not funny, not entertaining and not even worth the 30 minutes I spent before leaving the theater.

This movie is utter crap, a total embarrassment for Mexican cinema.

Perhaps the idea of making a movie that celebrates Mexican culture, particularly Dia de muertos, is not bad, but the execution is abismal, with a very crappy story and absolutely awful jokes. I suppose its made for kids, but I dont even think kids nowadays will actually like something like this. Anyways, a big dissapointment. Reminds me a bit of other recent works of Mexican animation like Una pelicula de Huevos, or the Chavo del Ocho cartoon. It has the same feel. I guess that upcoming Chapulin Colorado movie will also be in this line.

I'm sorry if you actually believe all those things you say. First of all, you can't expect a movie with the quality of Final Fantasy. There is no way! Let me tell you something. Mexican cinema is starting to grow. Those "ugly drawings" are very well done! Those jokes where ment for kids. That whole movie was an attempt of mexican filmakers to start animation films all over again. They don't get much money. They have to deal with that. They didn't have a lot of time either. They did what they could, and yes, it is not the greatest movie ever, but it is something that will take time.
Just be patient and don't be so hard on them.

Karian,

I've seen some great movies made with amazingly low budgets. I wasn't expecting Final Fantasy, I was just expecting something that didn't make me leave the theater.

Like I said on my review, jokes are too bad, even for kids. Some of the situations are going to be too scary for kids if that's the intended audience.

Hey, a long time ago WB & Disney proved that even if a movie is made for kids they don't have to be so crappy!

Karian, of course I believe the things I've said, this movie is a waste of resources. I mean, having Bustamante, "El Loco" Valdéz, Jesús Ochoa and Ofelia Medina offering their voices is certainly not a shortage of resources, and still they didn't make anything with them.

Don't expect less from Mexican movie makers, when resources are short you have to be creative, not use it as an excuse for this piece of junk!

To everyone his cup of tea i guess. Like sense of humor or sense of "scaryness", wich is different in everyone, i laughed a lot, lot more than with bee movie or (aag) the one with the surfing penguins, i would love to see what users from somewhere else have to say, and i really hate when someone critices any movie based on what is expecting a certain audience segment, like kids in this case. On the part of storyline i believe that it is one of the most solid resources of the film, the twists and connections are smart and heart moving, but of course i see no way you could reply to this, since you actually didn't see anything of it because it happens after 30 minutes of the movie start, when you left. Oh! and if you have ever voted for a film you'll notice that only votes from regular voters are taken in account for the overall rating of the film, which discards your theory of "bogus voting".

An outsider's reaction: I don't understand Spanish perfectly and the version I saw didn't have subtitles, so I may have missed some of the bad jokes, but I was very entertained by this movie. For a norteamericano who has traveled in Mexico (though not in Puebla) it was interesting to see the culture and art and the beautiful backgrounds. I've never seen a cartoon like this, so I found it novel and entertaining. It didn't seem cheap to me at all. I don't like digital or 3D animation; I like the old-fashioned painted look. But even if you like 3D/digital, there is no point in comparing it with this style.

ohh shut the fock up! ifeito you are either just a freaking troll or another of those lame gringos wannabe.
The movie is not bad at all. Go back to watch Tinker Bell or crap like that (beautifully animated crap, but still crap), made by adults thinking on kids as if they were retarded or something, you moron.

Les Luthiers (which, by the way is an EXCELLENT musical ensemble)

To each his own, I honestly expect more of mexican movie makers and I'm CERTAINLY not expecting Pixar style animation.

You could have probably made a better point without resourcing to insults.

And the movie is still one of the worst pieces of junk I've ever seen.

Enjoy!
