Shocked

I'm shocked at several things here.

First is the IMDB rating of 5.7.
I've seen good horror and I've seen bad horror and this is the muck pushing its way through your toes at the bottom.

Second, acting was some of the worst I've seen, and not in a funny way as in "The Room" but just in a way that makes you wonder how the casting director managed to compile a group of people who don't have one acting-inclined bone in their bodies. These kids are OBVIOUSLY acting and are polar opposite of believable.

Third is the script. "Let's just go back to your house and make out," says the token black guy. This movie is full to the brim with bad dialogue and unbelievable statements coming from what seems to be circa 17-year-olds. If a screenwriter can't think of any other way to separate an individual from the group so as to be gruesomely murdered other than to have him simply WALK OFF TO INVESTIGATE... ALONE, after it had been emphatically decided to STICK TOGETHER, seems to me to be the most unimaginative vegetable strolling the nursing home.

Then there's always the directing. My country bumpkin, deer hunting, cigar puffing, furthest thing from Hollywood father could have had enough common sense to direct this film better. Almost every action committed by the cast made me cringe and want to claw at their faces for doing something so utterly idiotic and unrealistic. I know a movie doesn't have to be realistic but I am damn sure this movie was aiming to be realistic apart from the whole statue incarnating your fears thing.

I am shocked that everything on this board is positive. I consider myself to be very rarely critical of a movie and quite easily pleased but this one is plagued with failure.

This isn't even one of those "killin' time so I'll watch a sh*tty horror flick" horror flicks. It's a "feel like abusin' myself so I'll let the cast and crew of this horror flick sh*t on me for 80 minutes."

Stick to foreign horror so you can't tell when bad acting is occurring.

Timothy Patrick Owen

Huh?

lol when a film has a score that someone would consider decent you have to look at how many votes it has normally if a movie has about 200-300 votes the score is going to be high

do you mean films with higher vote tallies will inherently have more positive votes?

that sorta makes sense...
that when films generate a lot of buzz it is more often than not on the positive side
and without buzz or cultdom, whose gonna vote?

I'm wondering what might cause exceptions to this? Stuff like Snakes on a Plane
where the buzz was inherently negative?
